Is there anyway to lock the touch screen during video playback? We have a 11month old who loves watching cartoons on it when we are out to dinner etc and I would love to be able to lock the controls.

Also any other suggested ipad/pod/phone locking or child proofing apps? She has gotten dangerously close to buying stuff.

Not yet (as far as I know); the upcoming iOS update will enable this: http://www.apple.com.../#accessibility

Check the available options in the following menu: Settings app > General > Restrictions

Thanks, that accessibility option looks promising.

Hi! I actually released a new app earlier this month that does just what you're suggesting: LittleFingers Video Player lets you play the videos in your Movies / iPod app, Camera Roll, or imported from iTunes and then lock the screen so your little one can't accidentally pause or stop the show. So far it's been received fairly well, thought you might be interested in checking it out. It's in the App Store at http://itunes.apple....28007?ls=1&mt=8

Obviously, this doesn't stop kids from accidentally hitting the home button. For that, I've heard good things about a product called BubCap. Looks like it should work for the iPhone and the iPad.

Hi Guys,

Another good app for this is 'ToddlerVision" there is an iphone and ipad version and apart from a child lock on the screen its got a great youtube streaming function which can be set to automatically play through all the search results..

search for ToddlerVision in the appstore

I tried toddlervision, but i never got it to open, it allways crashed.

Toddler TV ( https://itunes.apple...&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 ) seems to work better. Plays youtube videos, and has a screen with big pictures to let kids choose the videos they want to see.

Would make more sense for it to be hooked up to a tv, and have it so the iPad isn't reachable by the kid.

Oh, I misread, I think. Is the child with you when out or at home while out, as in being babysat?
