Hey guys,

I'm looking for an Electric Shaver for my dad, he used to use a £50 Philips one back in the day and he got on with it fine, however the last 2 Philips we have bought are terrible - they make the skin on his neck sore and leave a rash. Both my and my brother have tried it out and it leaves our necks red and sore too. I know this is usually a sign of it getting blunt but the damn thing did it since day one!

I really want to get him a new one as he's getting on now and he can't be bothered with the wet shaving malarky... I'm unsure about those that you can use shaving gel with or use them in the shower, are they any good?

Can anyone recommend a good one? He prefers rotary, not Foil... I can spend upto £100 but would obviously prefer to spend less if I can get one that won't affect his skin.

I don't want to spend huge amounts on a new shaver only to find it doing the same thing!

Cheers

They all seem cheap and poorly made these days. I have a Remington Titanium (MS2 390) that does fairly well. But I still keep a cheap old bic razor around to get the spots it misses.

I used to prefer Norelco (rotary) razors. I think how well they work depends on hour your facial and neck hair lies.

My father had an actual razor. Don't know what happened to it when he died. I am not even sure you can buy them anymore? Can you? I used to use the old style razors that have the replaceable blades... and I used a brush and soap instead of shaving cream... but now I am just too lazy.
