The Outlook.com Team responds. Here's the video!

Ok, a crazy busy summer leads to crazy long times in getting back to you all. So sorry about that, but you guys have us running like mad to keep up the good momentum we're seeing with Outlook.com.

Before we get to the video, a few relevant pieces of information:

  • We read every question, comment, bug report, feature request and general piece of feedback. We filed the feedback, requests and bug reports accordingly. Some of these have been fixed already (captcha issues, login issues for Office 365 users, and others) and some you?ll see out soon enough. We take all this very seriously, especially given how passionate and knowledgeable this community is.
  • We told you we wouldn?t comment on future releases. Lots of you asked about future releases :)
  • We saw lots of questions around the same topics, so we grouped those into more general responses in order to answer as many questions as possible. Some answers to these general responses fall into the ?we can?t comment on future releases? bucket.
  • Lastly, while we know video is appreciated, it takes us a long time to get back to you guys. So next time around we?ll work on a different format so that we can answer your questions on the spot. We?ll work with Brad Sams on the best way to do this.

So without further ado, here are the answers to some of your questions. We got clips from various folks on the team so that way not only will you get the answer from the person responsible, but you get to meet more of the team as well.

Neowin Q&A with the Outlook.com team

Thank you all once again for the engagement and we?re looking forward to the next opportunity in the not too distant future!

The whole thing is pretty interesting though.

I'm not interested in many of the questions but I found the answers informative and a good heads up to what the team are looking at for the future.

Posted this in the comments section on the main page but thought I'd copy it here too:

Thanks for the video.

It's great to know us at neowin are helping shape the future for Microsoft. And thanks too for answering my question about the SMTP server "on behalf of" thing. Interesting seeing what your stance is on IMAP too.

However don't worry too much about the "I want this feature now" people. Outlook.com is still in testing stages, so I look forward to the final release.

Keep up the good work!

Fantastic video.

You covered my main concerns:-

  • Facebook intergration (I wanted the ability to turn it off/on)
  • Password limitation (My main passwords are all 16+ characters
  • Two-factor authentication (I want full 2-factor protection!)
