How much are you willing to pay for an RT tablet?

The so called mobile innovation as you call it, happened in the PC market decades ago, not really innovative when it was done so long ago

Unless the innovative part is the less accurate interface and less processing power.

No, I'm talking about new software. You can get apps on a mobile that never existed for any desktop OS.

It all depends on the group policy and domain join support no group policy no dice

either way id pay 650 but the battery life better be up to scratch

I suppose you're right, I've never seen a desktop app that turns your desktop into a flashlight, or a drink.

But how about you name a few apps that are on a mobile that don't exist on a desktop OS.

Universal remote app

?199 here,

Best mate has a Google Nexus 7 rooted and tbh it does everything youd need with tegra 3 in it to boot, so it would at least have to match that pricewise or will be Android for me this Christmas.

I want something to web browse around the house/sofa/bed, connect to my bluetooth speakerset in kitchen and use for IM, teamspeak client and access all my media on my Nas via wifi, ES File epxlorers all you need and its free (and no ads in any of the apps).

It would replace my Galaxy Note phablet & my XPS M1330 laptop, to a degree in and around the house, without the Mobile phone part of course :p

Because the OS is more restricted then regular windows 8 is, and also in order to compete with the ipad the price will have to be significantly lower due to ipad's dominating position.

^This. And lack of apps (only 4000 or so as RT won't run "normal" windows software, compared to how many on iPad?)

Universal remote app

Like any number of the Logitec software, or the early remotes for WMC and Wifi remotes, which all existed WAY before remote control apps for smartphones

You'll be hard pressed to find ANYTHING that didn't exist first on the PC in some form.

RT? i want pro only. i want all old programs to work, not only new stuff... plus, just how much new there will be at launch?? i wonder

I suspect very little at launch which should give most a reason to pause on getting RT.

Windows RT holds no value for me. Maybe $199 should have been right price or $249. Surface Pro, now that's something very attractive/value and can be priced slightly higher than iPad.

    • I'm still rocking iOS 25.x on my primary phone cuz iOS 26 still has usability quirks (mostly aesthetic and thus its UX) which I don't wanna deal with -- and I've been piloting them with all of these updates on my backup phone, so I'm well aware of its "improvements" since iOS 26 was first released (compared to version 26.5.x).
