I just bought a new 13" MacBook Pro, and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

Other than MS Office, Google Chrome, Firefox, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver, what software should I get for it? It's the non-retina version :(

I'm OK with spending money on the software (meaning it doesn't have to be freeware).

Get app delete to remove those stubborn left over files from uninstalling things. You basically drag the app onto the wooden basket and it finds all the references. you click the link, delete the selected file, and on to the next. Saved 5GB on my SSD.http://www.reggieashworth.com/appdelete

- Skype

- Maybe dual boot it with W7 (Bootcamp--included with OS X)

- Crossover (Run Windows Progs.on OS X) http://www.codeweavers.com/products/

- ^ Darwine is the free version. It's a bear to use tho.

- Caffeine (On MAS) Stops your mac from going to sleep (great when copying files)

- Angry Birds!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh! Also, Check here every now and again. They have 100% free stuff sometimes and great deals. Just register an account with them. They don't spam. :) It's so you can download your apps and view your serial keys.

Why is there a need for apps like Caffeine when you can just temporarily change the "sleep" paramater in system prefs to never? :p

Because I can just mouse up to my menu bar and click a coffee cup. I'll also probably forget to enable it again and waist my battery, or disable when copying and waste my time. :)

Very useful, i use my mac for mixing on Traktor with a controller so there is no interaction with mouse or keyboard so after a while screensaver will come up, then it can fall asleep if i don't bother clicking something, i would go into system settings change everything and then forget to switch it back, potentially lowering the life of the display.

really depends on what you want to do with the mac, if photography is your game then i cannot recommend Aperture enough, it's a great photographic workflow application, gets the photos in, quick touch ups and edit and then spits them out the other end, it's also a good price too.

If it's video editing then final cut is a good app to get and now like aperture it's really cheap to buy.

Be warned these are pro apps so take time to familiarise yourself with them
