Hardcore Til I Die
Hi I asked this same question on an Apple site and got a couple of answers, but wanted to get some neutral opinions from here too. I'm going to buy an airport express or two so I can have airplay around the house. I have an Asus rt-n56u as my main router and I'm really happy with the speeds and range. Would there be any benefit at all to replacing the Asus with an AirPort Extreme as my main router other than being able to control it using the airport app on my iDevices? I've read reviews and both of them tend to get excellent reviews, can't really tell which one is better. I live in a small two bedroomed house and just want one speaker downstairs in the living room and one in my bedroom. The Asus is in my living room. I can actually control the Bluetooth speaker I already have in my living room from my bedroom, so that gives you some idea of the distances involved. Thanks. I get signal from my Asus (on the 2.4GHz band) when I pull up in my car outside. There's a garden between the house and car park and the router is on the opposite side of the house. Range isn't a concern, just wondering if there's any other benefits. Cheers :)
8 Bit
since you are getting good speeds on your asus as well there isnt much to compare... the airport extreme comes with dual band not sure about your asus. i think setup would be the same as well for the asus but if you use the mac alot then the setup in osx is alot nicer on the airport. other than airplay support i cant think of any. because i dont know much about your router. u can fit ext drive for airport extreme. Yeah the Asus is a dual band router. I guess I'll try the AirPort Express with the Asus and then consider getting the Extreme if I'm not happy for any reason. Thanks!
