azspeedbullet
When i download files using both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, the maximum download speed i can get is around 80kbps. This happens on various sites like Adobe, Microsoft, and nvidia. Downloading files from any site is slow, takes forever to download files. If i use a torrents instead of browser downloads, i can download files at full speed which is around 2.0mbps. I already tried both my ISP optimizer and the SpeedGuide.net TCP Optimizer, which just improved my overall speed in torrent downloads and web page loading speed My computer is connected to my ISP Router via cat 6 network cable, my router is Actiontec MI424WR ISP Speed test: OS: Windows 7 x64
Hum
Your ISP may be limiting the download speeds. This is becoming more common. It could also be that there is heavy use of a particular Server.
azspeedbullet
Your ISP may be limiting the download speeds. This is becoming more common. if my isp is limiting downloads speeds then come when i download torrent files, i can download files at 2.0mbps yet firefox/IE can only download at 80kbps..Makes no sense, if it was limited then my torrents will be limited to 80kbps too
+BudMan MVC Posted September 30, 2012 MVC Share Posted September 30, 2012 ^ limiting download speeds over http? How exactly do you suppose they do that? I have never heard of such a thing - limiting p2p sure, limiting download over http?? That is some pretty fancy tech to distinguish the difference, I would guess more something on your box doing the restriction like antivirus scanning would be my first guess. I would boot a live CD of your fav linux distro and try that - are you still slow? Point to a specific download so that others can verify its not the server doing it. Ok lets do a test, I thinking from where you saying your seeing slow downloads is web installers grabbing the file?? So here just did a test from your mentioned company nvidia Let it grab atleast 100MB, unless your really really slow but give it some time so we can get a good picture of your overall speed So here I took shot when 100MB had downloaded and I was seeing pretty much max for my connection 1.9MBps Lets see what you get - here is link to site http://developer.nvidia.com/cuda/cuda-downloads here is specific link http://developer.download.nvidia.com/compute/cuda/4_2/rel/toolkit/cudatoolkit_4.2.9_win_64.msi
