Requesting a standard SIM from Three - avoiding

Recommended Posts

I am moving from an iPhone 4S (micro-SIM) to a Galaxy Note (standard SIM) but Three are asking for ?5.11 to get a new SIM sent out!

Anyone know how I can avoid this charge?

can't you get micro to full sim converters? the only diference is the plastic around the contacts

Send me your bank details and I'll give you the ?5.11, it's hardly a bank-breaking amount. Heck, I will just have one beer less on Friday.

That is very generous (thanks! :)) but no, it's fine.

I know it's not a lot, but it's not the point, it's the principle. These things hardly cost them anything to make or send. I am already a paying customer of theirs, so it seems daft.

I would be putting the point across that its there responsibility to provide all that is needed for you to be able to use the service you are paying for :)

I'll give them another call.

I bet if I went into a Three store, that they'd give me a new SIM for free!

Then again, maybe not.

I am on the phone with them now.

I said that to them and they said, "I will talk to the manager and try to get it waived off" :shifty:

i would just go into a 3 store and ask them to swtich it over..

vodafone were going to charge to send me one a few years back, and i just went into a store asked to swap my number to a microsim.. about 2 hours of downtime later, all sorted.

give it a go :)

I found it odd when I went back to the UK for a visit, and tried to get my Orange number put onto a MicroSIM, they were completely useless. Even to get a regular SIM I had to buy a new one. I guess I'm just used to them being so disposable down here, that I forgot people charge for them

Get one of these, or get one of the networks to give it to you for free. I got one with my corporate T-Mobile micro SIM - at least this way you can swap between standard and micro SIM devices without going through a painful porting process.

I just walked in to an O2 shop and told them I'm an O2 customer (I'm not!) and gave them a sob story about my phone being sent off to Apple for repair (If they knew anything about Apple repairs they'd know you don't send it off for reapir!) so I need to use a crappy old Nokia and they gave me a couple of adapters for free. Just go in to most of the phone stores on the High Street and you'll find they're throwing them away.
