Favela map removed from MW2

Recommended Posts

Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer map Favela has been taken offline following complaints from Muslim players, who discovered offensive imagery contained within one of the map's rooms almost three years after the game's release.

According to Kotaku, two paintings found in one of the map's bathrooms contained a quote attributed to the Prophet Muhammad, which reads: "Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty."

Its about what is right and what is wrong.

and enlighten a bit some of neowin-ians what is right or wrong in this case....

so ... let me get this straight ... I paid for a game to play and you find offensive an image and go bananas on my entire experience ... keep religion in your pants and let me enjoy my freedom of expression ...

Why would they put something like that there in the first place? It's unfortunate that they had to remove the map but it's only temporary. They're going to remove the textures in MW2 and MW3 with separate title updates.

It shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Funny that nobody asked for the removal of the Christ the Redeemer statue, thied to javelin it a couple of times when playing the level...rofl

Don?t get me wrong, I?m Brazilian, family is mostly Catholic but the level of non-sense the so called "religious people" are bringing up recently is upsetting me greatly; some people even question if I?m an atheist to what I say no "but I decided to talk to God directly as his representatives down here are a lot to be desired"...

Back on the game, I guess this will not affect non-official servers around the planet, will it...

then next time tell the developers not to include any religious imagery. they, as well as everyone in the world knows that religion is a touchy topic.

Why are muslums people who are supposedly so religious that this being in a game bothers them, yet the game itself is totally acceptable to them to begin with?

A game featuring guys going on rampages killing people by the dozens. Totally okay.

A religious phrase appearing in said game. Totally not okay.

    • Hi all. I have a seven year old Acer laptop which according to Acer website can't receive the new MS secure boot updates. This device lives in my bedroom and is purely a consumption device. No gaming, no nothing. I have followed online instructions and turned off secure boot which now gives me a green tick in W11 Security instead of the yellow exclamation mark. Now, I have MWB Premium now for several years and I'm reasonably careful with my online activity with this laptop. I'm also not a gamer in any way so I'm not asking much from this laptop. Given that, am I safe to continue using this device for banking etc given I've turned off secure boot? That's it, that's my question.

    • Let me get this straight... It was a web interface for Gmail, so if privacy at Google wasn't concerning enough you'd be going through two companies. And their big feature was the very thing that would make people consider dumping Gmail.
