Interesting one here. So basically I can be sitting here talking on Ventrilo and my ping with shoot up to anywhere between 1000 and 15,000. Ill shoot my brother a message, "Whats your vent ping?", he replies "31". Now we are on the same network, same router, same modem, but yet I get these huge lag spikes and he doesn't? I haven't been able to link these to anything specific. I have tried switching out network cables, I switched between my 2 NIC's. I'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this high ping prolonged? Does it stay at that for a long time, or just for a few seconds?

It could be software. Look for any software that is trying to manage your internet traffic. I bought a motherboard and installed the drivers off of the CD that came with software for managing network resources. My network was slow, dropped connections, could not remote desktop, etc. I spent two weeks trying to figure it out. Finally I thought the motherboard was bad so I was about to return it when I discovered it was the motherboards software. Just an idea for you.

Sorry guys, I have just been kind of dealing with it. It seems to be a system thing. It happens in Windows 8, 7, and a Ubuntu live CD. I'm thinking hardware problem...
