movie V for Vendetta, Squished Mosquito?

In the intro of 'V for Vendetta' there is a squished mosquito, has anyone else noticed it or even know why it's there?

Maybe it is the symbolism of a mosquito... blood suckers. This film was about removing such blood suckers from our society and being cleansed of them.... just a thought.

That's odd. Maybe it's a reference to the comic? Which I haven't read in ages.
