Backing up the iPhone backup..?

Recommended Posts

I'm undecided between replacing my iPhone 3GS with an iPhone 4S or a Galaxy S3, but that's by-the-by.

I'm looking at either totally formatting my HD and/or replacing it with a new, bigger HD. It's likely though that i'll have replaced the phone before i get a new HD.

What i want is to backup the iPhone backup & put it back in whatever directory it's supposed to be in once Windows has been fresdhly installed again.

This is so that if i get a 4S or even if i get an S3 but replace it with an iPhone in the future, then i can restore from the backup & have all my old settings, text messages, apps etc etc on the new iPhone.

Hopefully what i've said has made sense. If so, how do you do it? Thanks.

How to store iPhone backups?

Would backing up the address path as described in post #6 also save all your SMS text messages too?

The OP in that thread only seems concerned really about their saved games & the progress in the games. I'm concerned about the whole lot - games, progress, text messages, settings etc.

Just copy over the entire %AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder and you'll be fine. (%AppData% automatically points you to the right folder)

Doesn't work. When you restore it back, it only places the apps back and not the app data.
