I am looking for database or list creation software.

I was wondering if anyone here is familar with any software, which allows users to quickly create lists, and create create custom columns within the list(s).

Does anybody know any software either free or paid that can create lists with custom columns?

Thanks

you mean like excel? ;) yeah there are plenty of free spreadsheet software other that lets you create a list of things be it text or numbers dates in columns and rows even and sure you can put what ever heading you want on each column or row.

Can even do graphs of this data, and pivot type tables to present the data in different ways. You can run queries against data included in your "list" of stuff

But sure if you want to put it into a "database" mysql comes to mine or MS Access works too. SQLite comes to mind as well - but you have not described any need for anything other than a spreadsheet.

but you have not described any need for anything other than a spreadsheet.

Hi BudMan,

Thanks for your response, I was hoping to have some of the columns link to items on other lists, so that's why I can't use Microsoft Excel? Also it needs to support up to 20 people potentially adding data simultaneously.

I was going to suggest Access if you really need a database. Or for a freeware alternative, you can use Libra Ofice or OpenOffice database programs....

Microsoft Access (part of MS office) and LibreOffice Base (free) are the two that come to mind straight off. If you've got any basic web experience it wouldn't be too hard to make a MySQL/PostgreSQL/MSSQL/Sqlite and a PHP (or Ruby, etc) front end for your web browser.

"I was hoping to have some of the columns link to items on other lists"

Could be done with excel.

As to 20 people - shared workbook, not sure of the limit, again you can have multiple users using excel spreadsheet at same time so again not something that could not be done with excel.

But plenty of FREE databases out there.

FileMaker, which is top notch or Bento if you're on a Mac and don't need the full blast. (read OP again and the request rules out Bento I'm afraid)

Or if you need to stay very very open, go for MySQL and possibly a localhost'd web front end/operate it with an application.

MySQL is a database server, and I feel the user is looking more towards a standalone product rather than a server to build his database on?

Access would be just dandy. But as said above - your specs are fully possible within Excel.

Yes, that's correct I am looking for an application that allows end users to create lists and relationsips without any coding.

    • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
