In the new web apps(essentially a trial of the full thing) there are less designs in powerpoint, also all the four apps lost functionality, why is there no checklist in onenote? Cell merging in excel? Please dont tell me this is final.

The web apps aren't trial versions of the desktop Office suite.

Merge and center is still there on Excel.
Checklist is still present on the OneNote ribbon (ctrl+1 if you want to use the keyboard)

Do what? If some functions aren't available it's probably more to do with the device than the software.

Are the web apps worse on your ipad than they are on a laptop/desktop? If so, then MS is just being a bitch. If you root, you can fake your user agent string and then get the full safari version of the web apps.

I do think that the apps are exactly the same on all platforms though.
