I am building a mini budget computer for someone and this will only be used for internet surfing and office.
It will run on Ubuntu 12.10 and OpenOffice.

I know the hard drive and RAM isn't up to par but other than that what do you think?

Why not just get a small SSD? My suggestion is to wait for Black Friday, since you will get some great deals on computer hardware.

SSD is a good choice. A 32GB is around the same of the current 320GB I have there. I'll ask to wait until Black Friday.

Your 2GB of RAM should be more than enough for Ubuntu 12.10.
