I know Fedora 18 is due out at the end of the year

If i dont upgrade to it and just continue doing my updates for Fedora 17 am i missing out on anything?

I dont intend moving to a newer version until i do a format etc which prob wont be for a while

Any ideas guys?

Skip the update, unless you're ready to deal with possible tmp-on-tmpfs issues.

You'll miss out on gnome 3.6.

Fedora 17 is maintained until 1 month after the release of f19 so you shouldn't have to worry too much.

yeah thinking i will just keep a hold of it till at least F19

gonna start looking at Other DE's though getting bored with gnome

I thought Gnome 3.6 was a nice update from 3.0-3.4 (been testing F18). Solved quite a few of the nags I had.
I'm way more concerned about tmp on tmpfs though... that and now it's going to ship in 2013 :-/

Surely i can upgrade gnome anyway if i wanted to in F17

Yea delayed again, anaconda, secure boot and fedup (fedora upgrade?) are what is holding the beta release up right now. I give them kudos for delaying and trying to ship something good, rather than something flawed at release.
