Gmail Unread message icon broken in Chrome

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. I have the Gmail Unread Message icon lab enable. It was working normally, until my Chrome updated last week. Now it won't show the unread mail count at all on the tab. Tried disabling and re enabling the lab to no luck. Are there other ways to get the unread mail count in the tab?

Which build/branch are you using?

Standard, beta, dev or canary?

I'm running the dev channel (build 24.0.1312.5 dev-m) and have enabled the lab and am getting the icon.

Does it work if you open gmail in an incognito window? If it does that would suggest an extension you have is affecting it.

Im running the latest mac standard 23.0.1271.64, its not working in incognito

I use the Google Mail Checker extension, and it works fine with Chrome Beta on Windows. It also adds an icon that displays unread # of emails (if any)
