IE10 Release Preview for Windows 7 Available

Recommended Posts

Well most people don't use Internet Explorer anyway. They use either Firefox or Google Chrome. There are some sites that require Internet Explorer, but no so many of them now days.

The point is: Keep your system up to date, whether you use the app or not.

Well I am not going to install IE10 on Windows 7 or any other version of Windows any more than I would install IE9.

IE8 is good enough. But it could be worse. We could still be stuck with IE6 or IE7 on Windows 7 if they had not made an IE8. And you know what IE6 is like.

wanna check those stats again? IE is still right up there with firefox and chrome

It has been on this site for a month that I know of.

http://windows.micro...dwide-languages

it's been listed there for about a month but the downloads didn't actually become active till last week

I'm testing it at work. The performance is fine, no complaints there. But what's with using Win8 scrollbars in the Win7 version? That's just lazy, MS.

not just the Win8 scrollbars, but the win8 check boxes, textboxes, list boxes, comboboxes, radio buttons...... ugh

The OP doesn't know much about computers or the software that runs on them. Don't give them anymore of your time. I'm not sure why I am even replying.

I do know that we rolled out IE9 to around 2000 computers at my work and the users were very ELATED to receive the upgrade.

The browser isn't crashing on them like before, stalling on loading up, is more compatible with websites and because I am in IT - we would like to have these computers run more secure. (We give our users administrative access).

Looking forward to IE 10 final.

They've always done that with IE... IE8 on Windows XP looks out of place too (even though it's less obvious). For some reason they hardcode everything instead of letting the OS itself handle it.

Any screenshots?

looks exactly like IE9 except the gradients in the tabs and that have been flattened (in other words, looks exactly like it does on Windows 8 minus lack of glass)

Well I have got Windows 7 and I have never upgraded to IE9. I have stuck with IE8 which is the default version of IE that comes with Windows 7, when you install it. IE10 is exactly the same as IE9. It is slow and slows down the whole of Windows. So if Microsoft think that I or anyone else is going to install IE10 they must be joking. I have uninstalled IE10 from my Windows 8 as well. So the answer to the question will I install IE10 on my Windows 7 is NO WAY.

You're out of your mind and I remember some of the ridiculousness you were talking prevoisly about your setup!! Sheesh!

IE8 totally sucks comapred to IE9 and DOES NOT slow down anything!

I had asked this question already a few days ago, in a totally sepearate topic, when I installed IE10.

Does anyone know what that dllhost.exe/COM surrogate service is that now runs since installing IE10?

I know what the COM surrogate is, but can find no way to disable the service. I'm almost sure it's related to the Do Not Track feature, but not positive.

I solved that issue though by removing IE10. It is not much of an improvement over IE9 on my machines.

    • Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5102558, KB5095615 Setup and Recovery updates by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft released the newest preview update (C-release) under KB5095093. Alongside those, Microsoft also released new dynamic updates. For those who may not know, dynamic updates bring improvements to the Windows Recovery process in the form of Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) updates, which are also called Safe OS updates. The dynamic updates also affect the Setup file binaries in the form of Setup updates. These Dynamic Update packages are meant to be applied to existing Windows images prior to their deployment. Dynamic Updates also help preserve Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content during the upgrade process. VBScript, for example, is currently an FOD on Windows 11 24H2. This time both recovery and setup updates were released for Windows 11. The company writes: "KB5095186: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, version 26H1: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.28000.2335. KB5102558: Setup Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to Windows setup binaries or any files that setup uses for feature updates in Windows 11, version 24H2 and Windows 11, version 25H2. KB5095615: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.26100.8737." Microsoft notes that both the Recovery and Setup updates will be downloaded and installed automatically via the Windows Update channel.
