We're in the process of getting a server together for minecraft, and I need to find out from you the community. What type of server you think we should have. Survival or Creative

Also need to see how much actual interest there is for this so we know how many slots to have.

I'd be interested in playing on a creative server.

Id prefer Survival over creative and id prefer to play on a vanilla server rather then modded, provided you could trust the people who played on the server and they wouldn't go on griefing etc...

As a relative n00b, im guessing passworded Chests are a mod but i think there required.

if there is a survival server, is there any method of removing hunger? i generally play creative to get away from the hunger bar.

Sorry but a server for a Java game and "supporting" a developer who has no idea what he is talking about, I am all against. Use the server for Neowin :)

Would love a community style server similar to the Mindcrack server. A bunch of people enjoying the game, working together and generally having fun :)

When I build stuff I want stuff to remain where I placed it ffs...

Worst mob ever, and I thought creepers were annoying haha.

So, if endermen can't be removed, I'll go with creative. :3

when i ran a little server for me and my friends at home for a little while, I used a bukkit plugin called "Mobs" that gave me complete control over mobs, i made it so endermen wouldn't pick up blocks and creepers wouldn't explode, and i turned off ghasts completely

so yeah, I'd definitely recommend this plugin http://dev.bukkit.or...rver-mods/mobs/ best mob control plugin i've used

edit: and the great thing about this plugin is if you disable a mob completely you can still spawn it in manually with eggs and commands

I'd be happy to help building spawn if a server is set up by the way.

use the rule of

/gamerule mobGriefing false

that will disable creepers from blowing up stuff but still damaging you. Not sure if it effects the endermen from moving blocks, wither destroying blocks etc...

K, so far looks to be survival.

Any mod suggestions, would like to keep this low, but of course cause of griefers (this is neowin of course), will need some permission based ones.

bukkit has plenty of plugins to help against griefing so just take your pick :)

and once again, I'd like to suggest tekkit

it'd be nice to have a good tekkit community for once :)

I know it's only me and Brando212 that has suggested Tekkit, but it just adds so much more without making it seem like a totally different game. I think for a tech site it's the obvious way to go. ;)

With big square holes everwhere from everyone setting up construction mines. Farming for diamonds.

Tekkit doesn't work with a large community imo.
