I am looking for a Software Audio Ampifier, something that acts like Soundblaster Ampifier that can, among other things: make the sound of gunfire less sound, make footsteps/footfall louder.

I need this for PC gaming, Windows 7. I could not find this, by myself, hence this post.

There's no such thing as software that knows that some sound is a gunshot versus a footstep. Cool idea though.

Any sound manipulation you're looking for for gaming is done with some type of software equalizer. In WIndows 7, go to your control panel and to Hardware and Sound. Then go to the properties for your sound device and you'll see a tab named "Enhancements." In there is a checkbox for loudness equalization. That will reduce the volume of loud sounds like gunshots and increase the volume of quiet sounds like footsteps so that all sounds are about the same volume.
