I just got a new phone, the Samsung Galaxy S3. Its pretty great. I am having trouble syncing facebook with my contacts though. I went to the facebook app and the app settings and checked off "sync only with existing contacts" because i dont want ALL my facebook friends in my phone, just the ones that I already have in my contact list, and i want those contacts to show their facebook profile picture like i have seen other DROID phones do. I also made sure to go to the phone settings and go to accounts and sync to make sure facebook syncing was turned on, and it said it was. HOWEVER, my facebook contacts didnt sync For some of them it just added double contact with the phone number they had on facebook (one of them was the same number i had put in my phone except a 1 in front of it) and it did not sync the pictures for ANYONE! Whats wrong? Why is it not working properly?

ALSO!-- There has been a mini glitch where every time i close my text messages a folder i have on the home screen with all my camera apps in it comes up as if i clicked on it when i didnt. Why does this happen every time I exit my text messages?

Are these numbers stored on the SIM or on the phone?

Also do you have sync turned on in the notification bar? (Slide from top, scroll the top toggles all the way, and make sure 'Sync' is on).

No, but facebook is. It is a problem with them. Until it gets fixed by Facebook, there isn't too much that can be done.

As far as the folder opening up... try and move the folder to another position in the screen and see if that does it. I've found that the S3 is very very sensative to some presses. You might not notice it, but you might be pressing in the area just as the app is closing.

Maybe try looking for the sync settings using a PC logged into your Google/Facebook account ? You might have to give FB permissions from the actual site

I believe it is an issue with facebook and google not agreeing upon security and certain other types of data and how it's handled. Currently, the best way to make this "work" is just to have it sync all contacts. Then you can go into your contacts, hit the "menu" button, and scroll to the bottom and select "Contacts to display" and select the contacts you want and don't want, via the account. I normally just have "phone" selected, so that I don't get a bunch of emails on my phone list
