If I am posting in the wrong forum I apoligze.

I am trying to lock down my facebook. I want to make it so no one can find my facebook profile. I have been able to take it out of the google search by unclicking the box in privacy settings to take it away from search engines but my profile still shows up in facebooks search engine when logged in as another user. How do I change this so it does not show up in facebook search? I know its possible cause I have seen other profiles do it?

Also how do I hide all my timeline stuff. I have seen other peoples profiles timeline totally locked down so as another user you can see nothing. I have checked all the boxes to only friends but this still happens. Basically the most important question I have is the one I first stated about taking it off facebook search engine.

Reason is because I want to keep just my very close friends and family on my profile. I have other friends who will want to search for me and add me and I do not want to tell them I do not want to add them so instead I just want to tell them I do not use facebook. I know its lieing but I just don't want to hurt anyone's feelings

Thanks

There are 3 things you need to do under privacy settings:

Under how you connect:

1. Who can look up your timeline by name: set to 'friends of friends'

2. who can send you friend requests: set to 'friends of friends'

Under ads, apps, and websites:

1. public search: uncheck 'enable public search'

Thanks but I did that and it still shows up on facebook search if logged in a test account that I used to search for myself.

It's a social network, you can't hide from their search, it would be counter intuitive. Just create a group that isn't allowed to see anything you post or do and lump all your unwanted friends in that. Though I think Facebook is the wrong site/network for your purpose, maybe a personal private website is more suited.

I know it is possible to hide it from there search. My ex girlfriend did it. She did not block me but we do not talk anymore. She was able to hide hers from the public search.

Yea but facebook is the only real social networking site that everyone is on so do not really have a choice.

S then use groups. And your ex-GF probably removed you as a friend and put you on do not ask anymore. There is no hide from everyone outside of disabling your profile. It'd be like having your name in the phone ok, but not searchable so people can't actually find you.

Appreciate your imput however this is not the case. I have a 2nd facebook account with a fake name that I used to test this out and even on that facebook account I can still not search for this person by the name.

I ask this cause I have some friends I want to have on my facebook and some I do not wish to have but if they see me on facebook they will have hurt feelings.

I've seen people do this though no idea how, but it is possible not to appear on FB search engine.

Do minors show on the FB search? Or something along those lines where you use one false bit of info and it does the trick.

In all honesty, I don't know, I just know, because i've seen several friends disappear from other friends list :s

Im afraid some people are correct, this cannot be done.

The only way is to block the person. Having said that, if you profile is completely locked down, the only thing they can see is your profile picture and cover picture (which Facebook should also not allow to be shown if you wish)

    • So they saved ton of money by using AI resulting in loss of crap load of money in recalls and expenses. Bravo. Management needs to be replaced by AI, not engineers.
    • Ditto that, I have a few Alexa devices around the house to control lighting and such for a disabled person I live with, and it shows a *lot* of ads on the display. The dots are simple but effective. A lot cheaper too.
    • Go for a Echo Dot or Pop instead. These Echo shows just advertise to you.

NetSpeedTray v1.3.3: The Updater Fix A stabilization release that repairs a critical regression in v1.3.2: the app shipped without OpenSSL, which silently broke every HTTPS request — including the built-in update checker (the "Could not check for updates" error many of you hit). This release restores it, hardens the build so it can't happen again, and fixes a startup crash plus four other reported bugs. Changes: Fixed update checking — Resolved a critical issue that prevented the app from checking for updates ("Could not check for updates"). Fixed startup crash with Auto-Cycling — The app no longer crashes on launch after enabling Cycle display mode. Fixed incorrect network speeds on 10GbE adapters — Multi-gigabit network cards now display speeds correctly instead of being stuck at 0. Improved color coding — Default color is shown when idle, and color/threshold changes now apply immediately without restarting. Fullscreen visibility fix — The widget now correctly stays visible over fullscreen apps when Keep Visible is enabled. Improved AMD Ryzen temperature detection — More reliable CPU temperature monitoring for Ryzen processors. Cleaner upgrades — Installer now removes outdated application files during upgrades, preventing DLL/version conflicts while preserving user settings. Improved stability — Fixed potential DLL loading issues by excluding critical OpenSSL and NumPy components from UPX compression. Better settings window — Scrollbars removed and layout improved for a cleaner experience. Localization improvements — Updated translations and completed missing UI text across all supported languages. More reliable releases — Added regression tests covering recent critical fixes, bringing the test suite to 196 passing tests.
