I've just installed windows 8
and I created a new account for the Store - I carefully entered some valid UK address (I live in Croatia) and there are like 10 apps in the whole store? What's up with that?
How does MS determine my Country? I have not entered any payment data

Set your region to UK or US and you'll see more apps I think

go to control panel and set your region to US like Stoffel said. This will give you most of the apps.

Just be aware that getting around Geofencing may cause you some serious issues down the line if you ever have a need to migrate an account to the correct region down the line.

I recommend always having things on the account that you will want to use as your permanent account.

Ok, thanks..I just want to try some apps, then a temporary account will do. I hope that they will unlock apps for all regions.. did not have these problems on the App Store...

It's not a region issue, it's the following setting:

Windows Store - Settings - Preferences - Disable the option to only show apps in your language.
