use PC screen as TV

I wanna use my pc screen as a TV and also keep it as a computer screen.

I have a pretty fancy pc-screen so I think its possible (there are still some connectivity ports left).

Its the:

Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23-inch

CONNECTIVITY

1 Digital Visual Interface connectors (DVI-D) with HDCP

1 DisplayPort (DP)

1 Video Graphics Array (VGA)

1 USB 2.0 upstream port

4 USB 2.0 downstream ports

DC power connector for Dell Soundbar

I'm using the DVI-D port for PC.

I wanna be able to easily switch from TV to PC by changing the input source via the menu of the screen.

Is this possible? and whats the best way to do it?

All you'd need is a Display Port to I'm guessing HDMI if you have HD service in your home, HDMI to DP should be cheap at monoprice

Use a TV Card, you just plug the TV antenna or s-video cable into it and then use Windows Media Center (bear in mind on Windows 8 that's an extra that isn't included but you can get it for free till January) : http://windows.micro...8/feature-packs

The TV card I use is a Hauppauge HVR4400, it's quite old now though, there's loads of PCI-Express TV cards around, just check what the card's capability is beforehand, i.e. if you want to use it for cable, satellite or antenna input.

Or if you don't want to use a TV Card just get a DVI to HDMI cable.

I use a forty inch Mitsubishi TV for a monitor, TV Screen and to watch movies (DVD and Blu-ray). So With your Dell monitor (have the same one for second monitor) you should have no problems. . .enjoy.
