ashpowell
As the topic suggests, my mouse stutters when moving... It hasn't always done this. I thought it was the battery being low, but that's been replaced and I've also changed the usb slot for the reciever to see if it was that.. Not sure what it could be? I have i7 3820 with 8gb ram so I dont think it'll be the computer being slow? Any advice is appreciated Thanks
Marshall Veteran Posted December 6, 2012 Veteran Share Posted December 6, 2012 Tried reinstalling the drivers? It would be helpful if you told us what mouse you have...
ashpowell
Yep uninstalled and tried both standard microsoft ones then the logitech ones. Sorry it's a wireless keyboard & mouse combo - logitech mk520
Charisma Veteran Posted December 6, 2012 Veteran Share Posted December 6, 2012 This might sound stupid, but, what does your mousemat look like? A lady here had the same issue with different mice, until I figured out it was fine when I took away her mousemat. It had a pattern on it including areas of red that were quite close to the colour of the optical light. I figured the mouse was getting "lost" over those areas as she moved it and it couldn't track properly. She got a new one, of a light solid colour, and it's been fine since. Marshall Veteran Posted December 6, 2012 Veteran Share Posted December 6, 2012 Take a look at the laser bulb, it might be in need of a cleaning. Use a cue tip and some eye glass cleaner.
morphen
another question is the computer placed in relation to other computers, which may have a wireless keyboard/mouse? At work, my mouse stuttered from time to time, and it turned out the computer to offices down (about 10 meters away through plaster walls) also had a wireless keyboard/mouse combo, and his mouse also stuttered. it turned out that my keyboard interfered with his mouse and vice versa. +jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted December 6, 2012 Subscriber² Share Posted December 6, 2012 If your tracking surface has a texture (e.g. wood) or a pattern, it might be that. Try just putting something solid and plain white down and try the mouse on that.
ashpowell
Thanks for the help, I thought I checked but on closer look, the tiniest little spec on the laser.. Got a cotton bud and gave it a clean, now it works fine. Always the simplest stuff! garwin 1 Share
ashpowell
Nevermind it hasn't... I'm noticing the keyboard is also getting delays with typing now.. I'll sometimes type then a second or two later it repeats it Any ideas?
HoochieMamma
Could be the USB dongle, have you tried it on a different USB port or a different computer all together to narrow it down a bit?

Jojo81
I just switched from a Razer Deadadder 3500 with a failing clicker to the Logitech G400 (also a 3500 optical sensor) and get a lot of stuttering no matter what I change the settings to. I am pretty sure it is my 5L mousepad doing it but it annoys me the Deathadder was fine on this same surface.
TPreston
Are you sure its not clogged or coated with dust ? its nothing you can spot easily at all. clean the entire area inside the sensor crevice to be sure. You still need to clean optical mice with some surfaces like fabric.
ashpowell
Nope it isn't that as I get it with the keyboard too.. I'll sometimes type and nothing happens then it quickly catches up. It's only for a second or so but extremely frustrating!
