he's right. The phone you use is what YOU like, not what others like. I used a Windows Phone and it worked fine (version 7 I think it was) but when it decided to not power on one day I switched to the iPhone 4, then 5. It suits me, does what I want and does it well. Plus my favourite video game ever is now available on it

I currently use a 8X Windows phone and i'm loving it but there is something about my Android Desire HD that made me hang on to it rather than swap it out.
I keep telling myself i'll find another use for it, like an MP3 player or something.

Lol..is it really so strange these days? Hell, I've debated trying to get a data only cell plan in the past. But StraightTalk is too good.

My 81yo Grandmother texts me. We still call each other, but primary talk through texts. That's the times we are in now.

I have never had that problem with Apple maps, in my state/surrounding states it works just fine. I do not use "street view" though, so that could be why. I also like Waze much more so than Google maps or Apple maps. I downloaded it when I got my Galaxy S3 as well.


The making phone calls part being so far down the list is an interesting discussion though, because its probably 4th-5th on my list of what I use my phone for as well. Its almost as if we need to change the name from being a smartphone into being a pocket device, because more and more we are changing to this.

As a former iPhone user I have to agree with you. I have all Apple products in my place except for the phone. I gave the iPhone up to a Galaxy Note 2 and I don't regret it one bit. The Note 2 does things that iOS can only dream of. The screen is absolutely amazing for remote desktop and web surfing and email. I wish Apple would come to their senses and increase that screen size some more. Also, on the Note 2 and other Android devices, you can set the font on the browser to a specific size so you don't have to increase it with your fingers every time you visit a web site. That was very annoying on the iPhone.

You must have a special edition of Apple Maps my brother because that application completely sucks and its broken. When I had the iPhone I tried to use it twice to find addresses that my Note 2 and my 4 year old GPS can find and the Apple Maps simply said it could not find them. That is ridiculous.

And I agree here with you as well. It happened to me. I told Apple Maps to take me to the local Winn Dixie and it drove me 13 miles away from the specified location to some apartment complex....LOL

Me too. I love my Retina Macbook Pro 15": I wouldn't change it for any other computer. But no Apple's phone anymore.

"iOS is more polished than Android" - Yes, this is true and its because Apple was been playing this game for a year longer than Google. IOS was released 1 year before Android and in 1 year they did a lot fo things.

Android may not be as polished as iOS and the app store may not be as fancy, but it catching up and it is catching up fast. You can't beat the hardware in an Android. My Note 2 hardware blows the iPhone 5 out of the water. Hell, the Galaxy S3 is faster than the iPhone 5. Tests after tests have proven that.

Why do you think Apple is so anxious to destroy Google? They are scared to death that Android is going to take over because they know Google has deep pockets and they know Google will keep improving Android and making it better and better and better it has gotten. I remember back a couple of years ago when I had the HTC Inspire, Gingerbread had a habit of crashing on me constantly and everytime it did, the UI fell apart. Jelly Bean doesn't do that. They have fixed that problem. I can't say that my Note 2 has crashed on me since I got it. Not once.

The iPhone is only slower because the CPU is down-clocked. The Note is obviously faster in that department because it has a quad-core. Memory performance of the iPhone destroys that of the S3. Plus the S3 has a crap screen and crap build quality. The Note 2 has an even lower ppi than the S3, so I'd have to imagine it looks even worse. Android phones are definitely catching up in terms of OS quality, but they still have strides to go to improve on all the little things that Apple constantly beats them on.

iOS, like OSX, requires much less memory than Android or Windows. It is a simpler OS and doesn't have nearly as many features and services to run as Android or Windows. That is why Android and WIndows phones require more power.

I don't know what S3 screen you have been looking at, but the S3 screen is not crap. Sorry, I had an iPhone 4S, and the S3 may not be a Retina display, but is not crap. It looks amazing. The colors are simply beautiful. As far as the build quality of the phone, I won't argue with you on that one. Yes, Samsung loves their plastic and yes, the Samsung phones build quality is not as solid as the iPhone, but they are still good phones. Samsung must have a reason to use plastic. Maybe to prevent the phone from over heating too much? Maybe it's cost-effective to the customer? Their reasons they have.

Are you kidding me? I get the feeling you have never had a Note 2 or S3 screen in front of you. The Note 2 screen is super beautiful. There is nothing wrong with it. Again, it may not be Retina, but its very close. It's Super AMOLED+ and unless you have bionic eyes equipped with 5000x Zoom, I don't see how you can tell the difference. I have 20/15 vision and I can't see any quality difference between the S3 screen and the Note 2.

Memory performance is pretty generic. But you're maybe talking about memory bandwidth? Then you or Astra should've specified it.

Also, memory bandwidth is not that important regarding the micro level of smartphone's apps and games. 2GB RAM on the Note does make much more difference on real-world performance.

I have an S3 sitting on my desk at home and the screen is pixilated and slightly over-saturated. It's big and bright, but the quality is nowhere near that of the iPhone. Personally what I care about most on a phone is the build quality and the screen quality. The Galaxy phones are simply not good in both those departments. I was extremely impressed with how smooth Android ran on the S3, but I couldn't look past the physical shortcomings.
