I've been reading about Milk Thistle protecting the liver from toxins

I enjoy a drink, my liver, not so much

Is there any evidence that it does actually help ?

From everything I've read it seems 50/50 as to whether or not it does anything, some sites say yes but you're disabling your bodies 1st line of defence by taking it, others say no there is nothing to say it helps at all

Anyone know any different ?

I take it when I drink anyway just on the off-chance it does work but would like to know a bit more
