I recently purchased an Acer Ultrabook (M5 model) from Best Buy. It came preinstalled with Windows 8, and I would like to downgrade to Windows 7. However, when I put in my Win7 CD, it tells me that "Windows can't be installed on this disk.......GTP format" (Or something along those lines).

How can I overcome this road block? I have all the Windows 7 drivers for my model laptop, but this is my only hurdle to overcome.

If you have a full windows 7 install disc, just boot up the computer with the disc in the drive, select boot from disc, run windows 7 set up, and reformat the drive. Then you can do a clean windows 7 install. Then you'll be free of the silliness of windows 8.

You'll need to boot from the disc, that's it.

Well, I'll give a little info and let someone else help you more. Judging by your comments, I'd say the issue is that your new system is UEFI and the disk is formatted GPT rather than MBR. Windows 7 can support GPT, but being that I've never installed it via UEFI or on a GPT disk, I'm not exactly sure how to help you. I'd suggest using UEFI and GPT if your system supports it rather than just repartitioning it back to MBR, but someone else will have to help you out on how, or perhaps I've given you some useful information to search for. I think you have to boot from USB. I found this link that might help you out: http://bit.ly/qqvBHr

Boot from the disk in UEFI mode. You can usually do that by tapping F8 at your BIOS screen and selecting "<Blahblah disk name here> (UEFI)>
