looking for the cheapest pair of magnetically shielded speakers on the block with decent sound. i just need to chat on them and them not interfere with the CRT.

Depends on what you want 2.1, 2.0.

All decent speakers are magnetically shielded these days, so just choose whatever you like.

At the extreme low-end range I suggest the Logitech X-140, they have surprisingly good sound for their ridiculous price of 30$. They can put out lots of sound if need be and are clear in most frequencies. They're also virtually indestructible, very good build quality.

If you are getting interference it's the CRT or something else, not your speakers
