Didn't they say they want everybody to move to Windows Blue asap.
So I assume they will make it free for Win8 users

It will cost money I think, Windows Blue (from what I can gather) is the future of Windows. Instead of releasing new version every 3 years of so, they'll release more frequent (but paid for) updates like this, ala OSX. I could be totally wrong but that is gist I got from it.

Just wondering before I officially purchase Windows 8 is Blue going to be a free update/service pack? If not I find it a bit ridiculous.

Yes, Windows Blue will be free and ad supported...

You know what's ridiculous? Making such statements about a product that you know jack about, and nor does anyone else yet.

I would have paid for them if his comment didn't exist, also. It did not cost me anything to read his comment, except for the time spent and the ensuing time in this conversation.

(And now I must disappear before the conversation continues!)

But since you've made these comments using those resources, they now become part of the fold and thus cost you money.

It will cost money. They are charging for Media Center too. Microsoft needs to establish their new standard and to do that they have to let people know how it's going to be right off the bat.

I think it will be free, adding functionality in much the same way that the Dashboard updates do for the 360. I think MS is starting to cotton on to the free/low-priced OS driving users to paid content in the Marketplace and making their money there.

However, if it isn't then they are being more than a bit daft ;)
