AT&T Is Very Disrespectful To Its Customers

Recommended Posts

They have over charged me for services I never requested in the past and that is why I am "paranoid" with them. Like I said previously, most every app that comes with your Android phone is free to use. Well, AT&T phones have a GPS app called AT&T Navigator and if you click on it, they will immediately start charging you $10.00 a month to use it. No warning, no nothing. When you get your bill then you will see it there. I know because it happened to me.

They also added insurance, without my consent, to 2 other regular phone lines I don't even use. I used them to get upgrades to new phones and even though they have a number, they are not being used, but they still added insurance on them without my authorization, so yes I have a reason to get pretty upset about their practices.

So you've been ****ed over by them in the past yet you stick with them.

Makes sense.

Dude, what part of I HAVE UNLIMITED DATA, UNLIMITED EVERYTHING SINCE 2006 did you not understand?

NOBODY offers true unlimited data anymore. If I jump ship, I will loose my unlimited everything plan. Sprint has unlimited everything but it sucks. I only pay $65.00 a month....Hello!!!!!

So then stop complaining about AT&T's service.

Vote with your wallet...not your mouth.

Well, then. What are you mumbling and grumbling about?

Suck it up, or dump them. Either way, it'll stop the whining.

edit: ahhell beat me to it.

This forum is full of immature people who can't have an adult conversation without acting like idiots and hating everyone that posts a concern or complain about something.

What a shame. This forum used to be a nice place.

Although I think it's silly for complaining about the addition of a free service... I can see where you're coming from. What if it wasn't free, and infact a paid addon?

And to the comment that they can skim a SIM card and clone it.... lolwut? Modern sim cards can't actually be cloned, and even if they can be - that is precisely what is being made - a CLONE. If OP does have phone stolen, and it is indeed sent out the country - within that time SURELY OP would have contacted AT&T who would immediately terminate his old SIM card and sent out a nice new one for him, thereby rendering the cloned card inoperable too.

Obviously he'd have to buy a new phone, but are you actually telling me American Telco's are unable to do anything if you have your phone pinched? You have to pay the remainder of your contract's term off whilst someone uses your sim? I've heard horror stories of American Telcos, but somehow I don't believe they're that bad.

That's what you get for being an idiot in the first place. If you are polite and nice, you will get a nice and polite response back. You guys started it, not me.

You are an imbecile of epic proportions.

As a customer service representative I would have loved to talked to you when you called AT&T to treat you like the scumbag you are.

The thread and all of your posts in it scream of your ignorance.

it's their service, and they have the right to change what they want. says so in the contract. disable roaming, and get over it. no sense in starting unnecessary drama.

Are you a 5 year old masquerading as an adult?

Unreal.

I think it's about time for mods to close/lock/flush this thread.

It'd be one thing if you were charged for this addition. Yes, it introduces the possibility of roaming charges if you decide to use it, but you are also notified via free text that you're in a roaming area. Whenever I go to Canada I'll get a text indicating this from both Rogers/Tellus & ATT. Simply turn off roaming on your phone and you'll be fine.

I think the issue the OP had is that AT&T unilaterally added something to this account that *could* end up costing him a lot of money. AT&T knows this and thus is the exact reason why they added it on their own. I think people want the option of keeping things off their accounts that could end up costing a pretty penny. I totally understand where the OP is coming from on this. I noticed this feature on my account a long time ago and had asked at one point to have it removed but I think they tied it in with something else and thus it wasn't a viable option for me to remove it.

Anyway, again, I see where the OP is coming from. AT&T sees this as an under-the-radar cash grab and took advantage of it, I would be upset too. Its the reason behind it that makes people mad. Most people wouldn't notice or think to check for that and then they happen to travel somewhere and bam, get hit with lots of overages.

Wow, I thought people here would be a little more open minded about what happened. He didn't ask for it and shouldn't be enabled by default. What happens in his phone was stolen and brought overseas? As a large company you don't enable something that can have the POSSIBILITY of having the customer charged if they didn't request it. How can any of you be against that? It's mind boggling really.

Also any of you stating about promotional calls or SMS about phone upgrades or other similar deals, that is completely different and you know it.

Good point and it goes in with what I said earlier. Its really the reason behind it that would make anyone upset. They don't add it to "help customers" they do it in the hopes that it could and would land them huge income from very large overages.

I just finished reading the thread. I already talked about what I think of what the OP started off with. However, where the OP went wrong is coming down to the level of direct name calling and insults whether he started them or was responding in kind. In either case OP, you don't help your case at all by doing that. With that said, I totally understand where you're coming from in your original post. Its the reason behind what they did that would make anyone mad and then you already had similar problems in the past, that makes it worse. Now, other posters had a good point that is standard and that is to vote with your wallet. However, you do have good reasons for staying with them too and if you chose to take David's stance in the David v Goliath kind of situation, then you should be supported and not hounded. I'm just a little surprised that people didn't have more of an open mind on your situation or at least be a little more understanding whether or not they agree with you.

while i understand that the service might not cost anything additional i would be upset if Verizon started adding or removing features on my line without first asking if it was something i wanted to do.

That is because there are a lot of people here that are young and ignorant and therefore think like that. They are not adults with adult thinking and reasoning like you and me and a few others that responded.

By the way, the insults, hate and stupid comments were towards me for no reason at all because all I did was post a concern about something that bothered me. That is why I said this forum used to be a good place to come post and share things.

Like I told someone earlier, if you are nice and respectful, people will be nice and respectful to you. There is obviously a lot of disrespectful people here.

BTW, thank you for not being rude like others have been.

I don't think anyone's actually critcizing the wrongness of adding features without permission on principle.

It's just that OP didn't choose a very good example, so he's getting flak for that. The example he chose was low risk, free, and beneficial, thus the rare exception of good customer service. It was not worth making a fuss about.

A better example would be automatically adding a data plan. That would be worth an inquiry.

So let me get this straight... they, like every other cell company, offer roaming services that you only pay for if you're roaming. They sent you out a marketing text to let you know about this service THAT YOU'LL NEVER PAY FOR and you're ****ed off about it? It's people like you who drive me insane.

My reply to your stupid, ignorant comment will get me banned from this forum so I won't bother. You are not worth it.

how is it ignorant and stupid? it's truth, your overreacting to something that shouldn't be that big of deal. the AT&T Navigation thing I can understand, but the roaming thing is just a safety net type thing and won't cost you a dime unless you actually do ever leave the country for vacation or something

I'm overreacting? And you haters are not? All I did was post a concern over something AT&T did that I do not agree with and most of you blasted me with hate and insults, and you have the audacity to tell me I am overreacting? Really?

sure, i don't dismiss that a lot of them are over reacting too but you're not helping the situation any by raging at them honestly

There will come a day when the US and China will collide like titans ( over Taiwan or anything else ). Then, on that day, some people in this comment section will realize how good an idea it was to become independent in areas like that. ( Or atleast try )
    • Microsoft Edge gets tons of security features, including AI model that can see your screen by Usama Jawad Microsoft Edge may not be the most popular browser out there, but it does receive quite frequent updates that sometimes bring surprising new features and axe others that are not as popular. Now, Microsoft has detailed some of the new security enhancements that it has introduced in Edge for Business, typically used by commercial customers. Microsoft has emphasized that security features are baked into Edge for Business and offer native integration with security and governance tools like Defender and Purview. Browser sessions are governed by default on managed devices but can also be governed through dedicated work profiles on unmanaged devices. An important aspect in this area is controlling the use of shadow AI. We have talked about this before, but it essentially restricts employees from using unsanctioned AI apps through data loss prevention (DLP) policies, with Edge redirecting them to trusted AI services like Microsoft 365 Copilot. This feature, available as a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) license, ensures that confidential data never exits AI boundaries set by your organization in Purview. Additionally, Microsoft also has strong DLP policies for contractors. Contractors leveraging a Entra ID-joined work profile provisioned by their contracting company on a device managed by their actual employer can be restricted from downloading files locally. In such scenarios, the file is saved on the contracting firm's OneDrive rather than being downloaded locally. Another useful Edge security feature disallows copying and pasting from unmanaged locations and apps. Similarly, DLP policies can be configured at a granular level to restrict screenshots or downloading of files from certain locations. In the same vein, IT admins can block the installation of extensions, hosted apps, themes and scripts, and control if users can install extensions from external locations. They can also enable the installation of specific extensions and allow users to request access to certain extensions, so that they can be managed on a case-by-case basis. Finally, Edge for Business now has an on-device AI model that uses computer vision to see what's on your screen and block potentially malicious content immediately. This does not rely on site reputation, as it simply monitors what is being displayed on your screen, which means that it is effective against malicious content that takes over your screen and employs scareware tactics. Since this is an on-device AI model, it does use your system's resources, so it's enabled by default only on devices with at least 2GB of RAM and four CPU cores. You can find more details in the Microsoft Mechanics video here.
