Rebuild compatibility

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm looking to rebuild my system and I've noticed newegg has some good deals right now on things i've been looking at.

RAM:

Video Card:

CPU:

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819103960

I'm also looking at this motherboard:

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813130657

My case is a micro-atx case, so I'm some what limited unless I get a new case, but I'd like to avoid that.

I was hoping to get a mobo that supports atleast that speed of ram (preferably without overclocking) and has usb 3.0 but I am having a hard time finding one.

Does anyone see any problems with this components? Anyone have any suggestions on a motherboard?

Thanks,

HC

That MSI board is fine. I've used MSI before and they run nice. Looks like you have a decent set of components. They should all be compatible, however I would look up the MSI board on MSI's website and ensure compatibility with the memory and CPU you're planning to get. What is your main intended use for this system? If it's gaming, then an AMD FX will do just as well as an i5 or i7 + or - a few fps here or there.

I'm not sure why those links aren't working for some of you, so i'll just list out the pieces below.

CPU: AMD FX-8150

RAM: Corsair vengeance 2x4gb 1600

VGA: XFX radeon 7850 1gb

PSU: CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 600W

Case: Antec Mini P180 Black Steel

I found this mobo as well.

I didn't realize MSI was so crummy.

My budget isn't real large, so I'm trying to keep it around $400-$450, but I'm still open to suggestions.

No SATA 3 on that MSI board and not a lot of good AMD Micro ATX layouts to go for.

This would be the best layout but no SATA 3.

I agree that not having SATA 3 could be a bummer. It could be bad if you wanted to upgrade to an SSD at some point in the future. I've been out of the hardware game for only a few months, but man has the micro-ATX market diminished!

@HouseCookie, that mobo you mentioned doesn't have USB3 as you requested :)

May I ask why you want the ddr1600? Would you notice any real world speed improvements? Or is it because it's in a sale?

I found a motherboard with SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3 with DDR1333 support - SATA6 is good, has USB3 but no DDR1600 support

Or your one you listed in the OP SATA 3Gb/s and USB2 with DDR1600 support - SATA3 is bad (if wanting ssd in future), has USB2 but a PCIe card can fix that, and has DDR1600 support

Or... you could get an ATX case and a new ATX motherboard :p

Yeah I was going to add that almost all RAM, at least to my knowledge, is natively 1333MHz. The 1600MHz sets are just tested and rated to run at 1600MHz, and therefore using it at that speed is overclocking. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

You are right, it doesn't. I like your suggestion about an additional card. I'm having a hard time finding a mobo that has usb 3.0 and supports ddr3 1600 :/

AMD CPU may or may not run at that ram speed they list here as Supports up to DDR3-18662 but the 2 then reads.

"1866 supported with 1 DPC (DIMM per Channel) in single memory slot motherboard designs"

http://www.amd.com/u...l-features.aspx

The modo I listed listed above does have USB 3 but not SATA 3 and this one has both if you can get it but some of the SATA ports may be blocked if the GPU card is too long.

    • "The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months¨ I'd prefer to see the lowest price in over a year
    • Glad these prices are starting to come down, but that is still crazy. I bought the 2TB 9100 Pro (slightly more expensive version with PCIe 5.0) last year for $240.
    • The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months by Sayan Sen Yesterday, we covered a really good deal wherein you can get a 4TB TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD for a low price of just $400 with a special discount coupon. That's just $100 per TB, making it a very good offer during these hard times. The deal is still live, so you can check it out in its dedicated article here if you do not want to miss out. Meanwhile, if you don't have that kind of budget but still wish to buy an SSD for a good price, the 2TB variant of the TeamGroup SSD at $280 its lowest price in over three months. Meanwhile, those seeking 2TB but faster performance can check out Samsung's 990 PRO, which has hit the lowest price also in the last quarter or so, as it's on sale for $370 (purchase links under the specs table down below). Thus, you want a faster drive, get the 990 Pro, or you want more capacity, grab the TeamGroup 4TB linked in the first para. The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $500. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more. • If you can't spell a simple word that 2nd graders learn, your entire argument is suspect.
    • And here goes the "Won't someone think of the children" brigade. Get stuffed mate. This has NOTHING to do with making the internet safe. It's about tracking adults, spying on your online activity, and sending the boys around when they don't like something you post. Also, again, parliament have voted TWICE against this, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. THAT is anti-democratic bullsh**. They will use this law to track you, they will use this law to control you, and they will use this law to punish you if they don't like what you do, even if it's legal. And your data? Say bye bye to that. It'll be on the darkweb in weeks. I'm not some rando online. I've been an IT professional for 40 years, many of it in security. I know exactly what this means and what will happen to your data. I do not consent and I will not comply.
