Over the last few months, I have been trying to find out a good VPN for my needs. Speed was the biggest factor for me. This will not be a in-depth review

Hide My Ass!

I used them for three years and a pretty good company. They where stable for the most part and they had great guides on different setups. Example would be if you wanted to use pFSense.

Speed: 5/10

I never got about 7Meg down from any server

Stable: 5/10

Price: 7/10

Not the cheapest, but with their great support and many server choices, not bad

The connection would drop many times if left on for hours

Software: 10/10

Their software has been great features and very user friendly.

Private Internet Access

Speed: 1/10

Never got more than 3 meg from any server

Stable: ?? Didn't use it long enough

Price: 8/10 Great price, crappy service

Software: 3/10 Crashed a lot, had neat features such as port fowarding that did not work

IPVanish

Speed: 10/10

25meg down

Stable: 10/10 hasn't been down in the last three days

Software: 7/10, could have more options. but it is simple and works well..

Price: 7/10, Kinda high but if you get the 1 year, it is much cheaper.

I read a lot of reviews on VyprVPN.. They seem to log more information than others. Also, there are a lot of post about people using it and getting letters from their ISP about P2P. If you don't use P2P, it shouldn't be that big of deal.. I don't use torrents, but I don't like how much they log.

Correction, they did not get letters from their ISP, VyprVPN was sending them letters about MPAA, RIAA complaints.

I use Boxpn, sometimes disconnects but re-connects if you use their software, fastest speed i have had is the maximum i download which is about 3mb on my 30mb line. Price is cheap and they have answered all but one of my questions but it wasn't a biggie "how do i make your software auto connect to x server".

I do not use it a ton, but I also have VyperVPN, and get the same exact speeds I get when I am just straight connected to my ISP. Literally maxes out my connection. So they definitely seem to have that part covered.

Since i'm living in China, i rely heavily on a VPN. I've been using StrongVPN for the past year and have had mixed results. Unfortunately China have upgraded the great firewall and have blocked many VPN connections. Most of the companies have fixed this but it means using methods that can potentially affect your down/upload speeds.

I second vyprvpn with pfsense, jsut wish I could get the firewall Aliases to work with the rules so I could get my xbox (and a few other rules) to stream from the US without routing all the traffic over vyprvpn

This looks good https://www.cryptip.com

Not really your paying $10 for access to three servers UK, US and BG wherever BG is and its the same price as other services that have a bigger and better selection also they drop the connection if its not used for ten minutes. Can not find information about there logging :/

Id like to use VyperVPN but it doesn't accept my card and no paypal option either!

(only need a VPN for Skype really because people keep using Skype IP grabber and booting my net ;s)

If its just going to be for skype have you thought about using a free service? There are a few out there, i believe hotspot shield give you 10gb but that waa a year or more ago so might of changed, then i hear Hamachi is popular too if it was just for skype like you said id be looking at a free option rather than a paid service if its going to be used for other things then sure pay! lol

It hard to find service which works on Mac recommend any ones for OS X?

It hard to find service which works on Mac recommend any ones for OS X?

I use Boxpn (paid service) like i said in this thread it works on mac and windows as for recommending a free one i can not because i only used a free one for a little while which was Hotspot Shield which does have a mac version. No harm in trying it is there?

I ended up checking about the logging on Vypr as i was thinking of trying them out but after reading this i thought "naaaah!"

VyprVPN is the VPN service connected to and offered by the Giganews Usenet service, although it can be used completely standalone. In common with many other providers we contacted, VyprVPN acknowledged receipt of our questions but then failed to respond. We?ve included them here since they have such a high-profile.

The company policy says that logging data ?is maintained for use with billing, troubleshooting, service offering evaluation, [Terms of Service] issues, [Acceptable Use Policy] issues, and for handling crimes performed over the service. We maintain this level of information on a per-session basis for at least 90 days.?

On Usenet forum NZBMatrix several users have reported having their VyprVPN service terminated after the company processed ?a backlog? of DMCA notices which pushed them over the ?two-strikes-and-out? acceptable use policy.

So, does VyprVPN log? You bet.

As for bole they dont log.

    • Apple reportedly looks to blacklisted Chinese memory chips as RAM prices climb by Karthik Mudaliar Image via Apple Apple is reportedly trying to get a clearance from the Trump administration to buy memory from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) to get some relief from soaring DRAM prices. As per a report by the Financial Times, Apple approached the Commerce Department more than a month ago and also spoke to other officials and allies in Washington. For starters, CXMT is a company that's already been placed on the Pentagon's list of Chinese military companies. The Chinese company is the country's top DRAM maker. For Apple, the timing is certainly awkward but not surprising. Tim Cook had recently warned that Apple would have to raise prices because AI companies are buying up large amounts of memory for data centers, and just like that, Apple raised MacBook and iPad prices. Micron also recently revealed that customers have committed billions of dollars to secure memory supply years in advance, which shows us how aggressive securing infrastructure has become. This gives suppliers such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron more leverage, while pushing hardware makers to look for alternatives. CXMT is one of those alternatives, but not the simplest one. Apple has spent many years trying to diversify parts of its supply chain away from China, especially for final assembly, while still depending heavily on Chinese manufacturing and suppliers. Even domestic brands from China are moving towards CXMT and YMTC instead of relying on Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix. For Apple, though, it would invite more scrutiny than local Chinese companies. For now, this is more like a lobbying effort rather than a confirmed supply deal. There's no official statement from either of the parties. What is clearer, though, is the pressure behind such a request. AI demand has certainly made hardware a bottleneck, and companies are trying everything they can to bring things back to normal, even if that means making politically sensitive choices. • I did test it a month or so back, but ... the results I expect to be on the first page are not there.
    • Neowin is saying these are good prices? Thats crazy. As others have said they are just ######. Time for big tech to bring down the prices for real not this fake crap.
    • The iFlyTek AINote 2 is among the thinnest E-Ink tablets. It has an EMR stylus, a built-in fingerprint reader, and plenty of built-in AI features. You had me until "and plenty of built-in AI features." That and any company that still does the iProduct naming trope is an immediate pass. It suggests the company isn't very imaginative or creative and is trying to piggyback off another company's success. Extremely lame. Also kind of expensive. Better choices at lower prices out there.
