The combat itself is very different from what I can tell. Outside of the fact they destroyed the iconic protagonist of the series the combat is not the same at all.

Not saying this game is bad, but certainly it isn't much like previous DMC games.

DMC1-4 had a sort of combat that no other third person beat-em-ups had. DMC: Devil May Cry itself doesn't have the same essence.

Also I think the user reviews on metacritic can be thrown out. This game is getting so much blind hate for the Dante change, something I think is good and needed for a reboot.

This. This is what people are disliking. The combat is not DMC.

The "professional" reviews can be thrown out as well. Most of them are giving 9-10, yet if you read the reviews, they point out several problems. The score and the review are severely disjointed.

If you want an honest and pretty in depth review of DMC:



The review hasn't dissuaded me from getting the game and I'm a huge fan of the original 4 DMC games. I'll be getting the pc version sooner or later.

DMC 3 and DMC 4 have better character design than this.......DMC 5.

Haven't gotten too deep into PC game yet, it's typically not my genre and the old style games never appealed to me, but so far this is very nice. Great graphics, responsiveness, even though it's a button masher you can enjoy the visuals, and the production value is typical Ninja Theory top notch. If you didn't like the old style games, it just wasn't your thing, I would definitely give this a try. I had 0 interest before and this is quite nice.

This game is awesome, it's just ridiculously good...

The last four days have been DMC non stop, just absolute amazing game... Even my girlfriend complaints I am all DMC now (No I'm not Dante yet, but seriously it's a joy to play)...
