A US remake of Gavin & Stacey has reached the pilot stage at Fox.

The project received a script order back in October and will now shoot a pilot episode, Deadline reports.

The retooled comedy will be titled Friends And Family - like the BBC original, the pilot will focus on a couple who get together despite their eccentric, very different families.

David Rosen - creator of axed MTV comedy I Just Want My Pants Back - will executive produce the US adaptation.

It was previously reported that Gavin & Stacey creators James Corden and Ruth Jones could earn up to £5m ($7.9m) each if the show becomes a success for Fox.

UK comedy Pulling - which, like Gavin & Stacey, originally aired on BBC Three - is also being remade for US television at ABC.
