I have nearly 3,000 points to spend (thanks BING etc.); I normally horde some points in case some DLC for a game I want come out (any word on NEW Far Cry 3 DLC? excluding the pre-order bundle stuff). But I kind of want to get a XBLA game; I'm hesitant on Fez because of the patch ordeal - game ruining?

I was debating between Fez, Trine 2, The Cave, possibly willing to try Bastion too. Downloading demos for each now.

Reservations: Fez's update bug ruining game saves..

The Cave is possibly "messy controls" regarding jumping - huge part of the game.

Thoughts?

Edit: Also, if you guys/gals have played multiple of these, which has more replay value or at least is lengthy? Bastion?

Is that like a tower defense game? I'm not really into those, only enjoyed Plants vs Zombies.

It's a 3rd person 3D tower defence game with WarCraft III / Torchlight style artwork. Highly entertaining and very amusing. I would download the demo and give it a go.

Go with Trine 2. A really underrated game and if you enjoy eye candy, then this game is full of it. The original was excellent and this is just as good.

Fez is ok, the main game is easy though and over very quickly.

Bastion is good. I never saw why it got so much praise as it did though.

The Cave. Not played enough yet to have too much of an opinion but so far the jumping isn't that bad. I haven't had it annoy me yet.

I know you don't have it listed. But I always recommend Marble Blast Ultra to friends and such when they ask for a good cheap arcade game. I bought it about 3 years ago and I still play it from time to time. It took me almost an entire year (on and off playing) to beat every level under par (Schadenfreude will make you rip your hair out. :p) I think it's only 400 points as well. It is definitely worth it, if you like challenging physics puzzle-ish type games.

Removed from the marketplace :/

So... What did you get? And are you enjoying it?

I was also curious about this. :p

I actually downloaded the Fez demo and the Bastion demo, only got to try out Fez due to a busy few days (which I enjoyed, and the music was great). Probably will pick up Fez, and Demo Mark of the Ninja since so many of you mentioned it. Getting another 400 MS Points today via BING so, I guess I'll take other suggestions too :p

I really want to download the 'Omega' DLC for ME3 but I know it is not worth 1200 points..

Lastly, I'm about to google it (check daily for this) but anyone know about FC3 DLC? Beyond the pre-order bundle that recently came out? I'm nearly 100% on the game's achievements and if there is not anymore DLC I was going to trade it in.

How do you get points from BING?

    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn weapons and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.
