My friends' M5's

Recommended Posts

The new M5's are a monster, very underrated. The only thing I hate about them is the fake sounds pumped through the sound system. Why BMW WHY?

I'm an AMG fan myself, got a CLS 63 AMG (W219). Can't wait for the new E 63/CLS 63 with 4-MATIC, they are going to be insane!

i just despise BMW's interior...it looks so cheap for such a gorgeous car.

Agreed. Of the three big German luxury manufacturers, my preference on interior is Audi then Mercedes then BMW. Everything from fit and finish to quality, layout is just poor and/or undesirable in BMW's interior. The biggest thing that turned me away from BMW is their ethics towards customers. I walked into a BMW dealership didn't get even looked at (I was 24 at the time), and there was even a guy doing nothing on his computer, and another free salesman. Walk into Mercedes and Audi/Porsche, was treated much better and actually noticed. Also, BMW's are the most popular luxury brand up in my area of the three big German manufacturers, so many 3/5 series on the road.

Nah, poor mans Mercedes.

Hahahahaha, that's probably the funniest thing I've seen on this message board. Mercedes is for people who like a fancy car to ride around in. BMW is for people who like to drive their car. Granted I have a lot of respect for some of the AMGs. For example, the C63 AMG makes me uncomfortably giddy (especially the Black edition in the parking lot at work ), but in general I find BMWs to be far superior. Not to mention Mercedes has just recently pulled out of a ridiculously ugly streak, and really are still mostly ugly except for the more aggressive performance versions and coupes.

That's because you were 24 in a BMW dealership. I had the same thing happen when I was at a Ford dealership looking over a GT500 they had inside. I already knew more about the car than any of the people working there, so I didn't care, but I saw a group of them standing to the side, even glancing over at me at times, but not one of them came over to talk to me. You should have seen the look on their faces when I walked out and got into my 335, and I did turn around just so I could see it, laugh, and drive off. If you got paid attention to at Mercedes or Audi, just consider yourself lucky, haha.

And I'm also curious what people don't like about the BMW interior. I never had any complaints about mine that I can recall. The only thing I ever heard people complain about was the iDrive which 90% of the time was because they were too dumb to turn a knob. The iDrive may not have been the very best at the time (I had an 08, they updated it the next year), but there was certainly nothing difficult about it after you spent 5 minutes to get familiarized. Fit and finish was top notch and I never had any complaints about layout. Obviously it's all based on opinion, but I'm just curious what bothered either of you about it.

Oh, and on topic: So damn sexy! And one for while the other is dirty, huh? Haha

You have a C63 Black Series at your work? WHAT? ****ing awesome, those are rare and expensive! Yeah, guess I was lucky to be helped at the Audi/Porsche & Mercedes dealership. One of my friends is a Lexus car salesman, so get to hear some interesting stories - like people looking like bums having enough money to buy the most expensive car they had, but yet didn't get noticed. Anyways, the iDrive system when it first came out was a huge POS. It is now pretty good actually, they added a lot of redundant buttons and overall it's better to navigate. I am not opposed to BMW's interior, they just don't hold their own when compared to Audi/MB. The layout was just suboptimal in the BMW, the large empty space next to the gear shifter, plastic, etc. I guess I'm nitpicking haha, I like BMW's (you really can't hate luxury/sporty German cars). I am looking for either an E36/E46 M3 or E39 M5, from BMW world, or 500E, C43 AMG from the Benz world, or B6/B7 S4 from the Audi world, as my second hand car!

Its funny how everyone forgets the americans have landed with the CADILLAC CTS V, and the new CORVETTE STINGRAY..

No one has forgotten about them! I hate the exterior design on the CTS-V, but it is a monster of a car. The new Corvette looks amazing both inside and out - but it is in a different class than the M5...

The new Corvette and amazing? What the hell is wrong with you people? Take that little piece of plastic and set it on fire. Never understood what people see in corvettes.

I think the current raft of American muscle cars are awesome.. that stupid sneering opinion that a lot of Europeans still have about American cars being unrefined or cheap (usually quoted verbatim from Top Gear) is completely without basis any more.

Had the pleasure of driving my first 'muscle' car on a trip to San Francisco in 2012 - a Dodge Challenger Hemi - it absolutely obliterated my expectations. I couldn't believe how refined, well made and enjoyable it was. A totally unforgettable experience. And I've driven(and owned) more than my share of European cars...

The new Sting Ray and Viper are absolutely beautiful.. I'd give my right nut to own either.

I echo this. I am looking around atm and looked at a BMW as I saw one at a dealership. Getting up close though I was majorly put off at their interior. Personally I like the interior of Audi's. Merc's again are nasty old Managing Director's cars.

i dont like audi's 90's red button look, and the display looks sad for some reason.

i've got the w212, its interior it very plastic, the current 5 series is nicer build.

Overall none of them look expensive when compared to their costs.....the e class uses the same stuff from the c class, and the same is true for the 3 and 5 series.

the jag does interior well (xf).......and porsche, they have awesome interiors lately.

but back to topic!

AWESOME m5's!!! more pictures!!

    • Microsoft's fast coding model MAI-Code-1-Flash comes to Copilot Business and Enterprise by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft’s recently announced MAI-Code-1-Flash model is now generally available to GitHub Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers. With this support, organizations can have more centralized policy controls and billing while finally being able to use Microsoft’s lightweight, first-party coding model. According to GitHub’s announcement, Business and Enterprise plan administrators must enable the MAI-Code-1-Flash policy in Copilot settings before developers can access the model. Microsoft says that MAI-Code-1-Flash is for fast, iterative coding work rather than the most demanding architectural or debugging tasks. GitHub’s official model comparison page says that the model is great for "general-purpose coding and writing," while it excels at fast, accurate code completions and explanations Microsoft introduced MAI-Code-1-Flash on June 2 as part of a broader collection of internally developed MAI models. GitHub subsequently expanded support to Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, GitHub.com chat, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse, and Xcode, but said support for managed Business and Enterprise customers was still on the way. In Microsoft’s own benchmark testing, MAI-Code-1-Flash scored 51.2% on SWE-Bench Pro, compared with 35.2% for Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft also claimed that the model used up to 60% fewer tokens on SWE-Bench Verified. Do note that these are vendor-run results rather than independent measurements. The model is billed at provider list pricing under GitHub’s usage-based system. GitHub currently lists MAI-Code-1-Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens, $0.075 per million cached input tokens, and $4.50 per million output tokens. For organizations, the main incentive to use MAI-Code-1-Flash is likely to be efficiency rather than maximum capability. A smaller model that responds quickly and limits unnecessary output is quite useful for repetitive agent tasks at scale, especially after GitHub Copilot’s move toward usage-based billing. The "Flash" model is recommended for fast work and not necessarily for huge repositories with loads of context. It's better if teams compare their output with other larger models, especially if they're working on security-sensitive changes and complex, multi-file work.
    • yes AND no the "original" or plain/normal Optiplex 7010 won't be getting any more new firmware updates BUT the Optiplex SFF/SFF Plus {small form factor}, Micro/Micro Plus & Tower/Tower Plus 7010 editions DO get new updates such as this new one   and here are similar guides from the Dell web site for Dell systems: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000390990/secure-boot-transition-faq https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000347876/microsoft-2011-secure-boot-certificate-expiration
