What do you guys think about this?

Haha, tried to narrow down a specific model for the 7850 from Newegg, but I can't make up my mind. You have the cheap option with the 1GB HIS or XFX cards, then there's the twin cooler 2GB cards, but they get awfully close to the 7870. And you guys also have the whole rebate thing.

Anyway, I guess you have more shops that you're looking at which might change the whole GPU situation. Whatever the case, try and find comprehensive reviews of the cards if you can before deciding on one. That being said, best of luck.

Thank you very much, I appreciate all your help along with everyone else that contributed.

My wife bought a bulldozer - there is a lot of negatively around this processor but comparing AMD to Intel is not a 100% apples to apples comparison. It is not as distanced as an orange but like a pear the straight frequency comparison will not work for a number of reasons but 1 being an older instruction set.

To say that an i5 vs the bulldozer is a straight winner is not accurate as it really depends on the work load. In most cases an intel i5+ chip will out class the bull dozer but in one area the bull dozer out classes the intel. Price - over clocking is great and for people who can over look beyond being stuck in the AMD family can pick up a good deal and possibly get that extra sudo "inch" of processing power for their money.

I bought an i7 but in comparison my wife has a machine she can game on and it serves her purpose well, more money for games.

Food for thought.

All this help is the reason I love this place. I bought the processor for $159 and I went for an AsRock Mobo. Now I'm at a fork in the road. I need a good case and it's between this case...

Antec Three Hundred

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042

And one that I have from a previous build that I'm going to buy again if I chose it. Which would you guys chose?

Centurion 5

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068

I KNOW the Centurion is a great case since I've had it for about 6 years. But I "want" something new. But if there is a better choice, I'll jump. I want to stay in the same price range tho. Thanks guys!

Hmm, it says the Antec is out of stock. I guess that makes your decision easier?

Generally, I've heard good things about Coolermaster lately, so I would personally go with that brand. But they also have a ton of newer models out... just my personal preference, but I'd probably choose something from here for that price range:

Those are some awesome choices. I want an all black case but I'm flexible and those look good. Thanks.

Thanks for Coolermaster recommendation! I am thinking of getting the following for myself:

I'm quite partial to Fractal Design cases right now. I love the monolithic look and they have a lot of good features.

It's almost double the going price of the Antec, but it's well worth it since cases don't get changed all that often. Anyway, the Define R4 is the one I'm talking about (there's other colour schemes, or without a window). I have the Arc Midi Tower, which is basically the same case with an extra fan, without sound dampening and a cheaper front. The R4 is not available in my country unfortunately.

Dude WHY did you show me that R4? WHY?!?!?!? Jesus. Now I'm on the fence. I need it with no window. Man... Lol

If you like R4 then you might also like this one by Lian Li. I had a Lian Li case and they make awesome cases.

That is around the range I want to stay as far as price. That Define R4 is something serious and I love it but that price is a bit more than I would LIKE to spend. Can I afford it, yes. But do I want to spend more** on a case than I did a processor? Not sure about that. But I still want the damn thing to be honest. It's an amazing case with great reviews all across the web.

Here's 2 bad pictures of my legs (and cable management). I moved the front fan lower after a while because it wasn't very helpful there.

There is a brand that has a decent cheap case, but I don't know if it's available in the US. It's ugly too, but very functional. I'll update this post if nobody posts until I find it.

I'm gonna block you! I found it for about $105 shipped. I think imma just get it. Thanks man I appreciate every damn thing you've said in this thread. It's really helped. How is it as far as cooling? It's obviously silent right?

Well, mine doesn't have the sound proofing obviously, but it's decent. The fan controller has 3 speeds and I keep it on the second speed when I'm not gaming. When I'm gaming I crank it to 3, and while it's noticeable on idle, it's not a problem once the fun starts. The biggest reason I crank it to 3 is because, if my CPU hits 60 degrees Celsius the crappy stock fan takes off (that thing goes over 5K RPM). I don't know where you keep your case but accessing the fan controller might be a bit tricky (it's the vertical bracket near my right leg in the first pic). I currently have it on my desk, but I plan to move it beneath eventually.

Anyway here's the other case I've mentioned, the Segotep Raynor #1 #2. It's the same case with a different face and should be at most half the price of the R4. Comes in red, green and white if I'm not mistaken. I've installed hardware in two and it's pretty damn good when it comes to features. The look is an acquired taste. Now the hard part for you would be finding it, if that is at all possible.

Mine will be under the desk on the printer cart. I'm sold on the case and I'm willing to spend the money but I have this thing that I don't like to spend too much money at once so I'm gonna wait till Thursday or Friday before pulling the trigger. I think the case is worth the money. I'm gonna have the thing for maybe 5-6 more years so I think I should spend on quality parts especially the case.

Sure, your money, your call. You may even stick with the old case for a while if it's available and wait for a deal on the R4. I made my biggest upgrade in 2010, from socket A to AM3 and I kept the system in my old case (from 1998!) for another year and a half. I kept the side open at all times because it had no cooling and it was pretty small.

Yeah, woke up this morning and I still want the case. The company sent me a $5 off coupon code so it's under $100 shipped. I'm getting a different CPU cooler for my AMD FX 8150 because I heard the stock one was crap. I might have other questions so thank you in advanced and stay tuned!

I have always been a fan of Antec - I am using two. Dark Fleet 85 and the Twelve Hundred and both are excellent cases. The Bulldozer runs very hot while gaming and in Florida (being the location mentioned within your profile) I would look to keep that temperature down.

VOTE: Antec

Yeah I think that's why I'm changing the heat sink and fan. Might add a few extra fans as well.

    • Ocenaudio 3.19.5 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display. Ocenaudio 3.19.5 changelog: Fixes crashes related to audio devices on Windows (DirectSound and ASIO) Fixes several crashes and memory corruption issues Fixes opening several headerless files at once, which previously dropped all but one Improves batch export by suggesting and remembering the destination folder Fixes accented and non-Latin characters in VST plug-in and compressed-archive file names Adds zstd compression support and updates the archive library Other bug fixes and improvements Download: Ocenaudio 64-bit | Portable | ~40.0 MB (Freeware) Download: Ocenaudio for Linux and Mac OS View: Ocenaudio Homepage | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
    • I did think about a Echo show once and it would be useful to see what my cameras see. But my brother got one and I changed my mind. Adverts and not really worth the price just to see my cameras. I have a load of dots and a Echo Gen 4, they will do.
    • I asking where you are from or live, because if you don't live in the U.K, why are you so bothered? That is another reason I voted out, E.U and people poking their noses in where they should not be. Sadly we still have it, Trump, and his cronies. Putin as well and no doubt others. It makes no difference what we believe, if we made the right choice or not, we are out. As I said to someone when the news first broke we have voted out, we just need to make the best of it. I have no problems with closer ties to the E.U, we still need to trade. Just don't want to be in their club.
    • So you think I voted out because i am anti-immigrant. I am fed up with those that come over and think that we owe them something. The ones that are at the moment coming over from France where they are already in a safe country because they think and no doubt will get everything chucked at them. While people who were born and bred here get very little. I have nothing against as i have said before those that come here and work. In fact I know full well that our NHS would struggle without them. I do have a problem with those that come over here and try to push their religion and their way of life onto us. My reasons for voting out was because of what the E.U is and is also becoming. I did not agree with Freedom of movement, not because I don't want people over here, but because people need to be checked before being allowed to cross borders and that goes both ways. But my main thing was because the E.U is becoming if not already a united states of Europe. The only reason countries like Poland and Romania joined was because they had no money. When my partner left Poland, she had nothing, Poland had nothing, that is why she left. Wanted to learn something and earn a living. The E.U would have us back according to Michel Barnier. https://www.euronews.com/my-eu...ator-barnier-tells-euronews Why are you so scared to say what country you are in?
    • I wonder what that line really meant...
