Why is it getting harder to find a wired mouse?

Recommended Posts

When I go to the store and shop for a mouse, 90% of the selections are wireless and only 10% are wired. And the wired ones are not all that great as they are only the usual 3 button ones. There's no good wired mouse with the extra buttons to go back and forward on the web browser. All of the good mice are wireless.

Why are the wired mouse selections so slim now?

Logitech makes a ton of wired mice, and most of their wireless ones can be run with a cable as well (that's how they recharge). I can use my G700 wired all the time if I wanted to.

Which store? The stores I visit have more wired mice and wireless. What I've noticed is that the majority of wireless mice are made for laptops (which makes sense). It would be hard to find a wired mouse for a laptop nowadays. Gaming mice, on the other hand, will always be wired.

Best Buy, J&R and Staples

I will only use a wired pointer.

11 years ago I used a wireless pointer and I got cheesed off having to keep changing the batteries.

It became far too expensive.

a lot has changed in 11 years mate. most wireless mice you won't have to change the battery for a year usually longer

Depends on the mouse. A wireless gaming mouse will last a few days before needing to be recharged. But, as I noted above, you can still use them while plugged in, which wasn't the case a few years ago.

I got my Logitech G700 off Amazon.com for 40 bucks cheaper.. I love mine it's wired and wireless. you can use any micro USB cable on it as well.

Well it's the same as my sons wireless controllers for his xbox360 pro.

Batteries became expensive and his far happier with a wired controller.

used wireless mouse and keyboard (mostly logitec) for so many years but if you calculate its just too much **** with the batteries....

so i am back to wired keyboard and mouse right now ...

id suggest you to have a look at www.hama.com they have quite a load of wired input devices (usb). and they are cheap :)

got me this one

SERIOUSLY? They're called RECHARGEABLE batteries. They're 2x the price of normal batteries and you get 500x the uses.

I love my G700, wired/wireless works amazing. Only complaint is the awkwardly stiff USB cable it comes with.

I love wireless mice, I like gaming too (but not too serious however). My logitech has over 1000 days left on battery, still the same ones I got it with. So thats a moot point nowadays. Keyboard batteries dont give me a rating in days but they are at 95% and I've had them in for ages.

Also wireless receivers are so much better nowadays, the new logitech unifying ones are great. Its works from downstairs in my house! I dont see the point in a wired mouse?

for what? a milisecond quicker? if that? who the hell would notice that?

I hate wireless mice. I purchased one recently after asking about them here and I hate it. I went back to this.

Apparently you hate mice, period.

Guys, batteries are rechargeable. Hell, the better Logitech mice come with rechargeable batteries, so you can just charge them up or switch the batteries or do whatever you want.

I use the one that came with my phone. Otherwise it's awesome. I love how they use all standard stuff... standard AA battery and standard Micro USB

I like my mice on leashes. If you don't leash them, they tend to roam and pretty soon you have an entire nest! :woot:

I'm a :cat: so I eat mice... or just play with them.

    • I like Tidal, but it still does not control devices from the mobile/app and still no surround support. And yeah re: above comment I still get a lot of network errors and I am on a 4/4 Gbit Fiber connection.

    • Samsung, Amazon extend 990 PRO 2TB NVMe SSD deal beyond Prime Day 2026 by Sayan Sen Recently, we had Amazon's Prime Day 2026 sales wherein there were several great deals including on SSDs. One of those discounted components was the Samsung 990 PRO SSD as the 2TB variant of it was selling for $370, a very good price after a long time. Although that deal was supposed to expire today, Amazon has now extended that sale further (purchase link under the specs table down below). The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $400. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more. The technical specs of the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB are given in the table below: Specification Value Form Factor M.2 2280 Interface PCIe Gen 4.0 x4, NVMe 2.0 NAND Flash Samsung V-NAND TLC Controller Samsung In-house Controller Cache Memory Samsung 2GB Low Power DDR4 SDRAM Sequential Read Speed Up to 7,450 MB/s Sequential Write Speed Up to 6,900 MB/s Random Read (4KB, QD32) Up to 1,400,000 IOPS Random Write (4KB, QD32) Up to 1,550,000 IOPS Random Read (4KB, QD1) Up to 22,000 IOPS Random Write (4KB, QD1) Up to 80,000 IOPS Operating Temperature 0°C to 70°C Reliability (MTBF) 1.5 Million Hours Endurance 1,200 TBW (Total Bytes Written) Get it at the link below: Samsung 990 PRO SSD 2TB NVMe SSD (MZ-V9P2T0B/AM): $369.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified. • Glad im on the right boat. Tidal has lots of issues in terms of app and music mix, its worst than spot but its honest. Spot algo is very tendentious and they pess less to artists, so im comfortable with the tidal errors, for now.
