hi people... even though I have been professional web developer for 4 years now I have never used SSL as it has never been needed in projects I have done for clients or even my self.. but now the time has come and I need to use it to secure very sensitive information..but seeing as i have never used it I have no clue on where to start..

any one recommend a good SSL guide? I do not wish to pay -___- for certificates not for this project anyway.. but everywhere I look its just web providers trying to sell certificates and such..

there are free certs (google it) if you only want to encrypt the connection, but they won't do any verification of your identity and the average user won't know who they are.

edit: just off of google
