Simcity 5 Beta 2

Recommended Posts

I got a key but the game is buggy as hell, sometime the turotial wont load, other it loads but all the icons are missing to build things. I have yet to be able to actualy start a city it allways errors with "You cant create a city at this time". It looks like EA's online DRM crap is going to make this game worthless.

It's a beta, they are stress testing servers.

I didn't read all the posts, but I just seen a trailer for this game and according to the trailer, the game will be out this month.

Seems unlikely if they just started beta 2 fase, but you never know.

Trailer looks awesome though, and I am totally looking forward to the release.

Edit- I guess the official release date is apparently March 5th.

Seriously way too easy to expand your city quicky. In the hour, I can have a budget of around $750,000 and about 250,000 population. Needs to be slower to accomplish these tasks and a slower game play.

Also, I've noticed a lack of "religious" buildings, such as churches and cathedrals etc. Maybe a future DLC? :/

Really how did you make so much money ?

Really how did you make so much money ?

Start off with getting a $50k loan at the start and just pour cash into industrial and loads of residential (tonnes of tax revenue, even on the 9% default tax rate), leave space for a mid-size section of commercial and industrial and watch it grow considerably. Then pay your debt off if you haven't already.

Then to really get the major cash flowing, build casinos. In the first few minutes you'll find that they'll be losing money but if you build the expensive rooms on top of the casinos and zone small amount of residential and some more commercial, visitors will come and stay to spend all their money. After a while you'll be able to upgrade your casino to the big shiney looking office block, and that's when the big cash flows your way!

Make sure the road systems in your city are also up to scratch and get a bus system with 2 bus stations (max out the busses) and a hell of a load of bus stops in place. Use the road upgrade tool if necessary.

Your factories will also grow if you educate your sims through the schools. So getting a decent school with pick up for the school bus system will allow your industrial factories to expand to bigger and better factories faster.

Hope that helps :)

Maybe.

When I heard that Maxis wanted to deal with "social issues", involving mostly environmental issues like pollution and limited resources, I did a post on their website suggesting they go further, and vice industry to the game; drugs, prostitution, and gambling. It seems like you can specialize as a "gambling city", but I don't know how this influences the organized crime in the region and surrounding cities.

They could go from there and extend a political element... if your city is attractive at some point to young couples that want children, churches and other houses of worship will come up in residential areas. The church groups and the vice industry groups would then often have conflicting interests and agendas and show up at city hall to picket you on various issues, and the challenge would then be to balance their concerns. The same could be done with environmental/"open spaces" groups who represent residents and those that represent industry. Appealing to different groups could help you politically some how in the game.

Anyway, I think it would be a cool direction for the game, I would hope they do something like that.

    • Payday TWO!! Is 13 years old man I feel old - I remember trying it out and if I did not know I would say 5-6 years ago or something
    • Payday 2 engine upgrade adds 64-bit and DX11 support, drastically shrinks install size by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Payday 2, the most popular entry in the heisting game franchise, is getting a surprising update after all these years. This is slated to be a complete engine upgrade that will enhance almost every aspect of the 13-year-old title, targeting performance, loading times, file size, rendering backend, and more. Developer Sidetrack Games is planning a beta to test out the new version ahead of the full public launch. The development team today revealed that the long-awaited upgrade to the 64-bit architecture is happening with this Diesel 3.0 engine update. By letting the game use more ram than 4GB, it is said to improve stability and compatibility on most hardware. It should also help modders in the long term with implementing larger changes too. "While many of the changes are made on the backend and not everything will be visible to you guys because it is a massive rewrite of the entire codebase, there will be a lot of things that you can look forward to," Sidetrack explained. Payday 2 will also hop over from DirectX 9 to 11. Instead of visual improvements, this is slated to reduce the amount of VRAM used by the title, letting more lower-end hardware access the title and run it better. Since these changes would require a complete redownload of the game anyway, Sidetrack says it has revamped "the game's packaging and bundling system." This should reduce the installation size from 86GB to 32GB. "So, now it's time to finally move the game to your SSDs," added the studio. The Payday 2 Diesel Engine 3.0 update is entering open beta on June 30 for Steam users. No console release plans were announced today. Sidetrack Games says it has been working on this complete rewrite of the codebase for the last nine months. While these changes should break most mods, the studio encouraged modders to use the beta period to repair their creations with support from the development team.
