German bling

Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH will offer an illuminated central grille star for many of its above compact models.

Boasting an optical fiber with LED technology, the white star emblem is lighted only when the car is stationary. The "Illuminated Star" shines when the car is unlocked or the engine is stopped. It also lights up when the door or trunk is opened. Once the door/trunk is closed, the star will go off in 15 seconds.

Already on sale for the M- and GL-Class models, the luminous star will also be optionally available starting next month for the C-, CLS- E-Class models. It won't be available for the cars fitted with Distronic or Distronic Plus. Another requirement is to have the star in the radiator grille.

This optional feature costs 300 EUR.

Now I wonder if Audi will do the same with the four rings!

€300? lol

I could modify one of those to a high standard for less than £20

I suppose if you can afford a high-end merc, then €300 isn't much.

You have got to be a complete ****ing mug to get that.
It's probably 1 transistor and 3 LEDs, apart from that, you look like a complete idiot.

Douches gotta douche.

Although, the Audi rings would look pretty cool with back lighting.

Honestly, I'm surprised it took them this long to add something like this to their cars, but very expensive for something that you'll almost never see.
My Subaru has had an LED emblem on the trunk for a very long time now. Sadly it's not hooked up now, the police aren't very fond of a blue light from the trunk  , but it makes me wonder what other companies will do if (more like when) they copy it.

Meh, it looks tacky. If it was more subtle, I think it would be nicer.

$300 for a tacky LED.

I suddenly feel those ricer spoilers are cheap.
