hi! I am trying to recover photos from an original IPhone that i deleted... I do not have backups for them ... I know it is possible but I am finding it hard and I do not wish to jail break it (unless its last option)

I have already got it to display as a drive on my computer (phone disk) that I can explore ... but I cannot recover any files from it using a program (recuva) as it keeps saying invalid file path (even though it is picking it up) ... any ideas on how I can do a file scan on my iphone / get the "deleted" data back??

How did you delete them, just deleted from windows explorer or formatted the whole device or what?
If you overwrote the whole device, give up now.
If you deleted them ages ago and have applied app and/or iOS updates or ran loads of applications since, give up now.
If you deleted them recently and haven't done much with the device, look for an alternative forensic program.

You have 'backtrack5' listed in your OSes - use this... it's one of the many, many things that OS was designed for and is excellent at doing.
