Too much to just copy and paste here but a very good read, never before has a console been revealed in so much detail.

They are going to allow people to self publish games on PSN, if Microsoft don't do the same you can bet on PS4 being the place for the best indie games.

That's going to be great. I'm starting to see alot of great indie devs make alot better games then big name companies these days.

considering that the PS4 hardware is so closely related to consumer pc parts in a slight context -> could we possibly see more PS4 title ports and better quality ports? Just asking this from a pc gaming perspective, because there are so many good games that I would like to play on the pc if that trend possibly is going to pick up :)

Good read. I do like the direction that Sony is taking with the PS4. It does seem to have better potential than the PS3. Well, by "better" I mean "more attainable", which is good news for everyone.

I'm really looking forward to the indie scene in the next generation, and the PS4 seems to in a great position for it.

Indie ports, yes. First party? No.

Never say never, it says in the article that developers can port games to the PC in weeks rather than months, this generation because the architecture is the same as a PC we might see more console games making the jump.

Outside of maybe some SOE games, you're really not likely to see Naughty Dog or Media Molecule or Guerrilla or SCEA Santa Monica games on Steam.

Now, second-party games, like Journey or even games by Quantic Dream -- sure I could see that.

Third option is for yet another ****ing PC middleware (Steam/Origin/GFWL) that Sony can control and implement cross-platform gameplay.

As soniq said, I could never see Sony allow their first parties to release their games on the PC platform as you're then losing the main reason that people are going to be buying your hardware. Sure you may sell a bit more software but at the expense of selling more hardware and expanding your install base, it just would never happen anytime soon (at least as long as Sony is producing console hardware).

Yeah. The likelihood of Sony releasing its first party games on PC is about as likely as Nintendo releasing theirs. As long as you're in the console business it would never happen.

I'd imagine Sony would make agreements with studios about exclusives. They'd probably make the game exclusive on the PS4 for a certain amount of time before allowing any porting. Kind of like some XBLA games are exclusive to XBLA before devs can port to PC.

I don't bother buying XBLA exclusives because they always end up on steam. I am kicking myself I bought Trials Evolution on XBLA. I bought Mark of the Ninja and I am waiting for Fez in May on Steam.

    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. GH1749 In the Master Password Setup window, "Show Master Password" is no longer truncated on some displays. New features GH1196 Dark display mode support: Password Safe now supports the system display mode, as well as setting the mode directly via Manage->Options->Display->Display Mode. This change also updates the general "look & feel" of the app to the current Windows theme. Known limitations: The Date picker and keyboard shortcut controls do not switch to dark theme The Customize Toolbar dialog does not switch to dark theme Custom Field support has been added to the more advanced features: Filters XML and Text import and export Comparison, Sync and Merge databases SF938 Custom field values may now be selected by name and copied via a "Copy Custom Field Value..." submenu in the entry context popup menu. • I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
    • How do you connect 5.1 Speakers to this thing?
    • I agree with both of you... It's absolutely imperative that science is completely based on actual proven facts and hard evidence and is not considered dogmatic in any way. Science is not a religion and it will never be, and that's exactly how it's supposed to be.
