UPDATE: Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch Dog's PS3-exclusive gameplay will also be available on PlayStation 4.

The additional content will be released post-launch as a digital download, the publisher told Eurogamer.

"We can confirm that customers who will purchase Watch Dogs on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 will be able to download 60 minutes of additional gameplay via the PlayStation Network after the game's launch," a Ubisoft spokesperson said. "As of now, we have no more details to share."

ORIGINAL STORY: Ubisoft's promising-looking open world adventure Watch Dogs will include 60 minutes of exclusive gameplay on PlayStation 3.

The feature was revealed yesterday in the game's box art, but not highlighted by Ubisoft at the time.

Presumably the content will also be available on Sony's next-gen console, the PlayStation 4, too.

Watch Dogs is currently announced for PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and "other next-gen consoles".

It's not the first time Ubisoft has favoured Sony's machines over others.

Assassin's Creed games often include exclusive side-stories for PS3 (Brotherhood had the Copernicus Conspiracy, AC3 had an extra saga featuring Benedict Arnold and this year's Black Flag will continue the trend). Far Cry 3 also awarded PS3-owners with extra co-op campaign chapters.

The contents of Watch Dogs' exclusive gameplay has yet to be revealed.

We've asked Ubisoft for more information.

Watch Dogs will arrive in the UK for current-gen platforms on 22nd November, Ubisoft announced yesterday. Its PlayStation 4 version is expected to be available whenever the consoles launches here.

As a gamer I hate exclusive content. It's one thing to bundle content for free with a particular platform or offer a timed exclusive; it's another entirely to deprive gamers of other platforms of the content altogether.

I rarely buy DLC anyway. they are generally just side quests, and I'm not going to replay the game to play some new side quests. an I'm certainly not going to buy a whole nother system for some side quest DLC.

better to not have some useless DLC content than to not have the game at all.

I thought Ubi was trying to reach out to PC gamers. Offering console exclusives doesn't seem to be the way to do it.

The irony is the devs just spoke publicly about how the PC version is the best version...and then this.

Although since the PS4 probably won't even be out and the PS3 isn't worth my moneys it still will be.

I totally agree with you. It is a bad idea and bad for the gaming industry as a whole.

I hate exclusive DLC as much as everyone else but it's certainly a better solution than back in the day where the whole game would've had a better chance to be a single console exclusive. Much like HawkMan, I've never been worried about it as I generally just care for the main story and for the most part don't even bother with DLC (racing games probably being the only exception for me and even then it's only on certain occasions).

Cool, but still getting it for PC if it still comes out in the summer!
