Files Copied to External Hard Drive Won't Run

Here's the issue I'm having. I've got an external hard drive hooked up to my MacBook - the hard drive is in NTFS format. I installed Paragon because I know NTFS isn't supported by Mac natively. I copied an MKV file onto my external drive from the Mac, but the file isn't playing on it.

The same file plays fine on my MacBook when I run it from the Mac hard drive. When I run it from the external hard drive, it won't play. I connected by external HDD to my TV, and it said playback isn't supported. I'm guessing there's some issue when copying the file onto the external drive from the Mac that's causing this loss in the MKV.

Can someone tell me what the problem might be? :(

So lets get this right - the MKV file on your MacBook plays fine, and you've copied it to your external - does the file run when the external is connected to your MacBook? What software are you using to run the file on your MacBook? The file should run from the NTFS drive as you're only reading the file. Your TV - what formats does it support? Mine only supports AVI and Divx from an external drive when connected to its USB port. What brand of TV do you have? MKV is only a container format that supports 15 or so different video/audio formats, it's like using Quicktime, some AVI files will play and some won't, it all depends on the actual video/audio format within the file itself. Some more info would be good. Cheers :)
