Account deactivation and lockout times

A friend of mine was telling me a story about an issue he's having with one of their Live accounts and I wasn't sure if anyone had experience with this. Basically, they are a business that activates their domain emails as MS Accounts to use for single sign-on purposes.

Recently he ran into an issue where he couldn't get into one of the user accounts (an old user). He can't do a pass reset because it doesn't show him in the system, but he can't sign up as a new account either (general error).

After wasting an hour on the phone with Customer Service chat, he was dumped and told to post it on the Live forums. After several days he got a token response, and later, they confirmed they can't find him in the system, yet are also now telling him that the account is locked out for 365 days before he can recreate it.

He showed me the original CS chat log and they claimed several policies that do not exist or weren't relevant, but one item there was the 'wait' period was cited as 15 days and 45 days within the same chat.

So, it is really the case (with no posted policy I can find) that if you don't access your account in 270 days they can lock you out for over a year before you can reuse it in a business setting (ie a custom domain)?!

      My Photos app is version 2026.11050.1001.0 and it remembers the window size and position. My Snipping Tool is version 11.2602.49.0 and it can capture the taskbar.

      On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously

      I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.

      The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
