Rappy Veteran Posted May 22, 2013 Veteran Share Posted May 22, 2013 Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac project will reportedly feature "groundbreaking" sex scenes. The upcoming two-part erotic film is to feature graphic sex scenes between cast members, producer Louise Vesth told The Hollywood Reporter. However, the real hardcore scenes will be filmed using body doubles, who will then be combined with the stars' non-explicit acts using digital technology, she explained. Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LeBeouf, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Christian Slater and Jamie Bell are among the film's cast. "We shot the actors pretending to have sex and then had the body doubles, who really did have sex, and in post we will digital-impose the two," Vesth said. "So above the waist it will be the star and below the waist it will be the doubles." The post-production work on the project is said to be the reason why it was not available to be screened at Cannes this week. Vesth continued to explain that von Trier has used experimental techniques in the film, including double exposures and utilising words and symbols over sequences. One distributor who saw early footage of the film described it as "groundbreaking...like nothing [they've] ever seen". Vesth added that she hopes von Trier will end his self-imposed ban on promotion, following his infamous Nazi remarks two years ago. "Lars has thrown everything in this one," she said. "It's about religion, about God, about philosophy. There's so much to talk about with this movie. I hope he changes his mind and starts giving interviews again." The world premiere will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark this December. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a483431/lars-von-triers-nymphomaniac-to-feature-groundbreaking-sex-scenes.html

Tigurinn
So a Porn film by any other name Basically yeah. I clicked this topic, expecting something incredibly juicy - but no such luck. And in my opinion Lars von Trier is extremely overrated (as is Wes Anderson)

But its not porn if they do it like that, it's erotic film play. Not sure how it's ground breaking, unlike they have some extra large BBW with CGI effects where they have sex falling off a roof or something... smooth_criminal1990
Sounds like Jessica Alba in the film Machete, where her breasts were actually a double's. Is this meant to be groundbreaking in the amount of sex it shows or just the use of technology?
Reverse Engineer
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9_Songs#Controversy not exactly groundbreaking.

Dick Montage
OK, look, I have nothing against porn, I watch a fair bit. But sorry, I have no desire to sit in a cinema with loads of other people watching actors pretend to have sex and then body doubles used to insert the real sex. How does it benefit the story - for decades we have known that sex scenes are acted, but now we actually need to see penetration? Why?

Arachno 1D
He could have halved his cast costs by just hiring porn stars I have to ask the question though......... Why even make it?

Dick Montage
I suppose he wanted to do some different But it's not "different". This is the thing - some of the sexiest stories told can be shown on screen without penetrative sex. It's just pushing it for the sake of pushing it. I will see it, because I am curious - is this being used in any way to better the delivery of a storyline (I don't see how) or just for the sake of it?
