Hello Neowin, So, I got my invite for the new Google Maps today. I was going thru the "tour" thing and my PC started slowing down.

Is this my laptop or the website?

It's the website. The new maps is completely client-side vector rendering using WebGL.

Yeah, I found it very slow - the CPU usage on my laptop shot right up! ...so the poor speed isn't due to the server, it's due to the amount of client-side rendering that's going on!

So although the new maps is impressive, Google need to do something to make it use drastically less CPU! ...or it's going to alienate a large proportion of users once its fully rolled out!

I didn't find it slower in terms of performance, but getting what I want seems to be slower.

Works great here without any slow downs but that's maybe because I got kinda quick internet and some overpowered specs xD

On my intel atom laptop it was slower though

Working just as fast as the old version, and my system is not top of the line in any way

My laptop was the cheapest one I could find in the electronics store I bought it in.

Never had a problem with Google Maps ...until now!

It's very slow and I hate that the "man" icon for Street View is missing

I have a 3570K CPU and the new Maps is definitely slower.
