Rent a Coder Sites, Thoughts?

Question

Daft Question, Well I think it is.

I am interested in paying a coder for a very small project. I have a need and I have the programming ability but due to the lack of time and been out of the game a while I am thinking that it would be easy enough for someone to do who is doing this thing day in day out. I was thinking about these so called "Rent a coder" sites. But I have no experience of these what so ever, So can anyone point me in the right direction, Which are the most popular?. How easy are they to get onto?. What is your overall experience of them?

Basically I want a program that can import a CSV file (Same format every time). Run some simple query's on it (Statistical stuff which in SQL terms isn't hard to work out, Just averages etc) and display the information on a nice GUI front end. Maybe users can drill down from selections.

It would take someone a day or two max.

Of course if anyone on Neowin is interested, PM me.

:)

I haven't used any sort of site like you mention, but your project sounds fairly simple and I'm sure someone here may have the time to help.

I would actually like to help out, but I'm not fully comfortable in my coding abilities just yet. Perhaps once I'm finished this final year of my System Analyst course.

I could do that, but I'd have to know about exactly what kind of statistics and what kind of GUI front end. I just completed a very similar project for a company here... CSV input file, generated a set of statistics and different specialized graphs for acoustic emissions detection/inspection of pressure vessels.

Glad I got some replys. I actually like that I can get people on Neowin.

Basically the data is from a Large Online Gambling company, Specifically related to Horses (For the moment) It would be fairly easy to manipulate the data, Again I have been out of the software world for a while so I know the idea and how I would do it I just need to implement it.

I could be persuaded to do some kind of profit share if the little app is good enough. However thats the second part of my plan.

So I would input a CSV file (Maybe two or three, As they are split into weeks worth of data) and then it would pick out each race by day (This is all listed), How many times a particular jockey or horse has won at that course and the average odds of the bets for Pre Event or In Play bets.

Donation Coder is exactly what I was looking for thanks!

    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.

With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
